Question about Sony Vaio PCG 7Z1M Laptop Universal AC Adapter 1820v

1 Answer

My sony vaio charger is got pulled out one day by kids running around, and when I went to plug it back in it would only work if i have it a certain way. I went out and bought a universal charger that said it was compatible with Sony Vaio only to bring it home and have it not work, Is there a reason for this? and is there anything I can do that will make it work on a students income?

You mentioned that when you plugged in back the charger, it worked if you try moving it right? chances are, the problem could be with the charging pin itself of the laptop. there might be a loosening due to the sudden pulling out of the charger..

Sony vaio PCG-7142L keeps freezing

Can check if the battery is low ... or is not (or cannot) holding a good charge ... when you unplug it (from the charger) ... when this happens ?

If that is the case, it may "freeze" while it is busy trying to store the contents of your memory before it shuts down (or hibernates). Does it shut down (or goes into hibernate if you let it continue to "freeze") for a while ? If so, then it's your battery.

If the battery doesn't hold a good charge, the laptop will run only a short time (while unplugged) before it has to shut down due to low battery. And if this is the case, consider getting a replacement (new) battery. And follow the initial charging instructions (for a new battery) to lengthen the life of the battery.

Cooling fan stopped working

any 18-20 volt laptop charger should work only need correct power plug and that can be easily changed if necessary with soldering iron and volt meter. using old charger plug as replacement. volt meter is used to check out correct polarity of plug before and after you re solder plug on.generally outside is -ve and center is +ve ,alternatively go to ebay or google and type in Sony Vaio PCG 7Q1M charger,or type in part number ,or try 18-20v laptop charger, that is what I do when I need a replacement charger, cost around $10 delivered usually.

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-661L I shut it down and it won't restart

do you get any leds when charger is inserted? if yes, try to remove battery, insert charger and press power on. also, i would recommend you test the output of your charger using a multimeter to rule out the possibility of a faulty charger.

Hullo, I spilled wine on my sony vaio

spilling the wine could have caused a surge to your battery or charger either one could be damaged but if your battery is reading full and powers off at random then it is probably your battery and needs to be replaced

Power chord problem

(1) Does the machine work with the cord plugged, if so it is the battery or the charger circuit at fault

(2) If it does not work then there is either a break in the cable where it enters the plug which plugs into the back of the laptop or the power supply has failed
