Hi,

I think its a hardware problem on your machine it could be the LCD or Motherboard thats having a problem. I strongly suggest to call the manufacturer it could be a know issue on their product.

That a nice computer you have there. Based on your description, my guess is you have a bad power supply.
About a $300 fix if you send back to HP. Which is what I had to do a while back.

Hp pavillion dv9000 won't boot. tries to start, fan comes on, screen black and then shuts off. blue lights turn on during the process. all happens in a few seconds and loops. nothing ever displayed.

There is a Limited Enhancement Program that includes this model. If you are in the US call 1-800-474-6836. If you are outside US check the HP.com website and search for the Limited warranty enhancement Program.
This is normally a video chipset issue that is embedded in your MB. If your notebook is part of the program, hp will shoulder the repair cost for the MB replacement.

Hp pavilion dv9000 blue lights on won`t boot stuck just cli

Sounds like the harddrive went bad.
Some people call it the click of death.
Put the laptop to your ear near the harddrive and you will hear the clicking coming from there.
Good news is that it's easy enough to change the harddrive.
Bad news is you lose all your data to this point.
I hope this helps and i'm sorry that happend to you.

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.
