Make sure the data cable and power cables are properly installed. Do any other discs work in the drive?
If you are using this on linux, you should be able to check /dev/ and make sure that the drive is mounting properly.
If it is mounting, then make sure you have all restricted packages installed so you can play audio. DId audio CDs work before?
Try using a different disc, like a movie or a program disc.
If no discs work, the drive may be defective.
