Question about Bodum Antigua 5670/5671 Electric Burr Grinder

Open Question

I just ordered a Bodum Bistro electric burr coffee grinder and I cannot get the bean bowl to lock on. It was not originally attached, but just loosely sitting on top of it. I try to lock it into place, but it won't move very far (the dial does not even reach the different grind settings) and it is very wobbly. Am I installing it wrong or could the grinder or bean bowl be defective? There is nothing in the instruction manual about this.

SOURCE: Am considering buying a Bodum

It,s conical. It can be easely remowed for cleaning. Just take it easy so you know how to put the pieces back again. Its a very good priceworthy grinder. I still use mine after 15 years. But as it comes from the factory it will not grind fine enough for espresso. There are various methods and instructions on the internet how to tweak them to grind finer if you want that. Internally the mechanism looks very similar to the Solis and Dualit grinder. Since my grinder i quite old i dont know if my tweaks will work on more modern machines. But the basic construktion i still the same.

How can i get manual for model 10903?

Do you mean the Bodum Bistro electric coffee grinder 10903? The instructions for use are available on the product page: http://www.bodum.com/us/en-us/shop/detail/10903-01US/ . Look on the right hand side of the page. The direct link to the manual is http://www.bodum.com/media/ifu/10903-01US.pdf . See page 4-5 (7-8 of the PDF) for the directions for grinding. The cleaning directions are on page 6 (page 9 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

My bodum burr grinder stopped while grinding beans. It will not run at all.

If all the above except some lame answer about using "rice" doesn't solve your problem, then the THERMAL FUSE will have to be replaced, and it is very easy and cheap to do so, especially if you do it yourself. A THERMAL FUSE will shut down everything so that if for any reason the machine overheats, it won't burn up the motor.

How to fix a bodum bistro electric coffee grinder that doesn't grind well

This can be caused by several things;
If it used to be good but is now faulty it is most likely that it just needs cleaning. If you are using beans that are 'oily' they can clog the grinder, you should anyway disassemble it and clean every year. Do not use soap and water, just brush it with a stiff brush (e.g. the stiffest type of toothbrush) and a vacuum cleaner.
There is also a possibility that something has got into the grinder along with the coffee beans that has damaged the grinding wheels; in that case you need to replace the wheels.

Have a grinder and it is full of coffee and stuck. It seems the beans were more oily and now I am trying to figure out how to clean it out. Please help

  • Try to grind all the beans through.
  • Put some uncooked rice inside the hopper and grind it, it is very good at cleaning if you don't have Grindz. Get Grindz if you can to grind and clean the burrs.
  • Try to take the grinder apart and brush off and clean off the burrs by hand.

When grinding coffee beans the grinder is not dropping the beans into the grinder part. I have to stay and shake or bang the grinder on counter to get the beans to fall through.

you must screw off the burr holder plate screw (in center) you will order one special screw, drill shaped, when the burrs roll it will mix and take down the coffee beans. That is solution i applied to many grinders. PS: beware the direction of burrs must be coordinated with new screw.

Oily beans seem to have clogged our coffee grinder up. What can we do?

Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift it off. Remove the outer burr with the 2 wings and clean under the burr. Clean the opening going to the chute for ground coffee(inside where the burr was).
Install the outer burr. Install the bean hopper. Rotate the bean hopper to the French press grind (coarsest) and operate the grinder. This will clean the burrs and the passages. If it starts to clog, repeat the last part to clean the burrs and passage. It must be grinding to go to a finer setting, but you can go to a coarser setting any time. Another thing. Turn the grinder upside down (empty) and rotate the bean hopper back and forth to clean the threads of the adjusting burr..
