SOURCE: My kenmore gas oven won't heat. I turn to dial to

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven would not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve would not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat
-- defective selector switch
-- defective gas safety valve
-- defective gas valve coils

Oven wont turn on when stovetop does. It's a maytag advanced cooking system. Any advice appreciated.

I seriously suggest to you to call the gas company an have them send a man out to do a thorough check on that. Do not play with natural gas. Please have them check it. They will determine very quickly what it might be. There is a very good chance it might be a faulty pilot light especially if you have the electronic type an I am sure you do. Do you get any kind of gas smell when you turn it on?? If not then something wrong with gas imput for the oven. Pat

KGHST307HBS6 bake cycle does not heat up, no gas smell, broiler still works, ignitor glows about as bright as the broiler ignitor and was recently replaced. The gas valve recently replaced and no smell of...

you have 2 posibilities the first one is very unprobable and the second will fix the oven

1) the new gas valve is defective and while the proper amprage is being supplied to it,it simply wont open

2) even though the bake ignitor is indeed coming on it isn't drawing the proper amp draw (3.2-3.6 amps) to open the gas valve ,the very fact the ignitor comes on totally eminates that the control isn't providing power to it for the bake ignitor to heat

i have been a appliance repair technician for over 30 years and am 100% confident that by replacing the bake ignitor the oven will work fine

I have a Maytag Advanced Cooking System (Super Capacity) gas stove. The oven takes an incredible amount of time to preheat & then smell an odor of gas. What could be wrong?

MY BROIL ELEMENT WON'T IGNITE ON MY MGS5870ADW MATAG GAS RANGE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT PART TO ORDER. BACK ELEMENT OR IGNITER IS GLOWING RED.

It could be that the ignitor is weak and only partially heating which could be causing the gas control valve not to open and allowing the gas to flow into the broiler burner tube.

I would also suggest you see if you can smell gas to confirm that the gas supply valve is actually opening up. With the oven door closed, turn on the broiler and after 20-30 seconds of having the ignitor glowing red, turn off the broiler control and open the door and see if you can smell gas, if not it could be either a weak ignitor or a faulty gas control valve.

I would suggest that before you start ordering parts, you swap out the oven ignitor with the broiler ignitor to verify that the broiler ignitor is the problem. It could also be the broiler tube has a blockage of some sort possibly from cooking debris, that is preventing gas from flowing into the tube.

Here's a diagram for your unit along with the parts list.

Hope you find this very helpful and best regards!
