Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I accidently dropped my HP G71-340US notebook laptop approximately 2 feet hitting the hardwood floor. It was closed and hit the front corner. It sill works fine except all pictures have a grainy, swirling look. For example, watching a You Tube video is nearly impossible to see. We took apart to make sure video cable was not loose and it was fine. Any idea how to fix?

You have probably damaged the screen itself, try using it connected to an external monitor, if you have a good picture then your screen needs replacing

You possibly cracked your screen or caused the ribbon cable to disconnect when you dropped it and just can't see what the error codes are saying. Is probably asking you if you'd like to start in safe mode with the beeps but you can't see it with a cracked screen or disconnected ribbon cable. Take it to a repair shop for a diagnosis.

WHEN MY WASHER SPINS THE BOWL HITS THE SIDE OF WASHER MACHINE SO HOW DO I STOP IT FROM HITTING THE SIDES

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Start off by following my guidance notes on balance/leveling-

It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My Compaq Presario F700 dropped approximately 2 feet to the floor from on top of a suitcase at the airport. It was in a case, but not a thickly padded one. When I tried to use the laptop after the fall,...

Try reseating the hard drive and the RAM modules, the fall may have slightly loosen these components.
The error message "Operating System not found" means the laptop could not find the hard disk, this problem could be the hard drive needs reseating, a faulty hard drive (they don't like being dropped), or a faulty disk controller.

The nails aren't going in far enough using a air cleat nailer

I just finished 800 square feet of oak flooring with this nailer. You might have to increase the psi at the gun and make sure it gets a good square firm hit to set the nail. You can swing and hit the thing pretty hard, I hit it hard to set warped boards in place. I used 120 psi for best results, I tried 90 psi but had more misfires. The nail head only needs to set in far enough so the head is touching the tongue and so the next board will fit. The nail won't be buried into the tongue like you might think. If the occasional nail protrudes from the board you can use a nail set to drive the nail the rest of the way in, but I found that most of the nails didn't want to set by hand. I either clipped off the head with side cutters and folded over the remaining tab or did my best to set the nail if it wasn't long enough to clip. If it bends over really ugly, just carve a little wood from the groove lands on the next board to clear the nail stub. Removing the nails is difficult, it's best to let them be rather than risk damaging the flooring. Also, don't let the gun get down to the last nail. Sometimes if you try to fire the last nail on a strip it will twist and damage the flooring. Always keep a few nails in the gun just to be safe. Hope this helps.

Toshiba satellite a75-s209

Probably not. Not only could the motherboard could be damaged but so could the keyboard, hard drive, CD/DVD, the cabinet, and possibly the screen.

It would take several hours of repair work and if you notebook hasn't been made in a few years it may be hard to get a mother board.
