Question about Quantaray QDC-900WA TTL Flash

Quantaray QDC 900WA no longer works on Camera Hot shoe

My external flash quit working on my Canon Rebel and Canon 10D. It now only works as a slave unit. I took it to a Wolf Camera shop and they tried the flash on cameras like mine and other cameras and it did not flash. Can this problem be fixed?

I too have the same problem. It was working on eminute and then the next it wasn't flashing. Everything else seems to work fine but no flash. I suspect the bulb may need to be replaced. BTW...I have owned it less than a year. Can't find proof of purchase though.

My rebel t1i eos 500 built in flash won't pop up

Hi, I have to Canon Rebel t1i and I had the same problem (built in flash not working). I tried a number of remedies I found on forums etc but none worked. I then tried this. In the external flash housing is a metal sprung plate which surrounds the five circular pins (one big, four small at the rear). If you get a small straight headed screwdriver and lift the front of this plate and at the same time pull it back towards you it will come out altogether.
I then removed the four small screws being careful not to drop them and took off the mount for the external flash and then tried the flash it opened straight away. I then cleaned all the area of the mount and the two plates and replaced them all ensuring I fitted them exactly as before. I then checked the camera again and presto working fine. I hope this helps everyone with the problem.

What external flashes can be used for canon cameras?

Any current or recent Canon flash unit will work fine. Most current or recent third-party flashes will also work, though you may not get all of the features you might with Canon units.
Older flash units designed for film cameras tend to have a higher trigger voltage. Using such units on new digital cameras can damage the camera. Here is one list of flash units and their trigger voltages.

Nikon D300 and Quantaray Flash...

I use their products and have had great success as well as great response. I don't have the Quantaray, but if you contact them they will most likely have a direct solution for that flash.

Quantaray QDC-900WA

Quantaray appears to not be a company at all It is affiliated with Ritz Camera and neither Quantaray nor Ritz actually manufacture anything.

The Quantaray SLR lenses are made in the Sigma factory. But many feel that they are not equal to the Sigma branded lenses.

I haven't found the maker of the flash units, yet. I should learn more this evening. An interesting mystery.

In here, you can find the User Guide for Quantaray 900 for Nikon TTL Flash

Good luck.

Wanting to use add on flash

The "error 99" is a general error on Canon cameras meaning "something's gone wrong and I don't know what to do about it". If you get them all the time, the camera is effectively dead and must go back to Canon for a service repair (circa £175 if I remember correctly).

If the error 99 only happens when you try to pop up the flash, but otherwise the camera can take good pictures, then yes, an external flash unit could well solve your problem. With an external flash on the hot-shoe, the internal flash is completely bypassed and the camera will never try to pop it up.

I recommend taking your camera to a shop such as Jessops and ask to try out a flash gun to be sure.
