Seems you are attempting an upgrade install. Try to do an erase install / Format Install, most probably it will pick up the drivers on its own if not you can search for the drivers on

Close any open programs and files. Click "Start," "Run."

Enter "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANATH\SETUP.EXE" in the "Open:" box.


If your IBM T43 is running Windows Vista or 7, enter "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANATH\SETUP.EXE" in the "Start Search" box.

Press the "Enter" key on your computer's keyboard. The Wireless LAN setup wizard will appear.

Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the Wireless LAN installation. You will be prompted when the process is complete.

Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer," then "Restart" to restart your computer when the Wireless LAN setup process is complete.


Tips & Warnings
If you haven't already downloaded the Wireless LAN utility to your T43 laptop, click on the "Wireless & Networking Accessories - ThinkPad T43/p" link in the Resources section. Then click on the "ThinkPad 802.11abg wireless Lan Mini PCI Adapter II" link to download the Wireless LAN utility.

What Operating System are you running? This link( click here) to Lenovo/IBM's suport site does show video drivers available for all OS's, even older ones, but there is a note in the table on that page that says "Windows 98, Me, 2000 - Note: This AGP driver is required in addition to standard video drivers listed below for Windows 98, Me, and 2000."
Make sure you have downloaded and installed both VGA and AGP for your correct OS and see if that helps.

The Model R52 has the wireless connectivity option, there are two possibllities
1. you may not install the wireless LAN drivers or you doesnt configure it 2. The wireless LAN gone faulty
figure out these possibilities, or you can install USB wireless LAN to your computer.

After download extact the files either Vista Or XP depending on ur O.S...go to device manager - select the hard ware.....right click and select update driver...choose not to go online....browse to the location of driver after selecting have disk and ok

I don't mean to disagree with my associate, but DVD players for R series (or T, A, etc) can be found for less than 20.00 US (Ebay is a good example)
For that matter, we've got at least a dozen at our shop which we sell for 25.00
Installation is very simple as well, just pop the old drive out, put the new drive in.
