Hello. This basically means that the WiFi switch which should be on the left side of the PSP is off. Simply slide the switch upward and you should see the wireless light flashing. Then try again to connect and it should work.

Please rate and comment, thank you.

Hello,
The entire PlayStation Network is down at the moment. Sony Entertainment is working on this. The code is from the site not a physical error with your PSP. Unfortunately there is no way to fix this but to wait until the PSN goes back online.

Im trying to get my psp on the internet, it scans with the WLAN and finds my home network, but says it does not support the security.

Hi torying01,

Based on your concern, I suggest trying the following steps:

1. Turn your PSP on.

2. Make sure that your WLAN switch is turned on.

3. Perform a factory reset.
--> To do this, select "Settings", then select "Restore Default Settings". You will not lose any information or data by performing this step.

However, you may need to reset your wallpapers. Set your name, date, time, etc...

4. Power down your PSP then wait 10 seconds, then power it on.

5. Navigate to "Network Settings".

a. Select "Infrastructure Mode"

b. Select "New Connection" Name this connection as you deem appropriate.

c. Navigate to "WLAN Settings" Select "Scan".

d. Your router should now be listed.

e. Navigate to "WLAN Security Setting". If you did not select encryption in ROUTER SET-UP, then leave the option as "None"

f. If you selected encryption in ROUTER SET-UP, then select the appropriate WEP, or WPA..

g. Navigate to "Address Settings". Select "Easy"

h. Navigate to "Setting List". Verify that your settings are correct.

i. Navigate to the next screen and press X to save your settings. You should get a message that says "Save Completed. Test Connection". Press X.

j. You should get two quick display messages. The first should say "connecting to access point." The next should say "obtaining IP address".

Hope it helps,

Thank you for using Fixya.

I don't know how to swich on my wlan on my psp

This is a really common question, so common that I've actually taken a photograph of my own Sony PSP to show exactly what you need to do!
On the lower left edge of your PSP when you're facing the screen, there's a small silver slider switch: that's your WLAN switch. Slide it upwards:
sony-psp-wlan-switch.pngCan you see it there in the photo? Mine's already up in the WLAN on position.
I leave mine on all the time, though it's possible that I'd get slightly better battery life if I left it off except for when I wanted to access either an ad hoc game or the Internet. Dunno, haven't tested it out.
Anyway, flip that switch up and the little orange light just above it should sporadically pop on for a second or so, and if you scan for a local network connection, it light up quite a bit!
Hope that helps you get up and online!

Internet

- Make sure that your PSP WLAN switch is turned on!

Where's your PSP manual?

OK here, I'll go through all steps to get to use the net on ya PSP!

PSP on...? Check...
WLAN switch on & working properly? Check...

Now...

go to Network > Enter Internet Browser > You probably don't have your net on 'Auto-Select' or have set a 'Home Page Setting', so enter a URL in the Address Bar > it'll then come up with 'Network Connection', 'Select connection', enter '[New Connection]' > 'WLAN Settings', enter Scan, probably the easiest for you > 'Select the access point to be used'. Select your home access point > 'SSID', name correct?, press right arrow button to continue > 'WLAN Security Setting'. Select the correct one if incorrect. If you need a PW for your connection, WEP, WPA Key, then enter it, if not, enter None > 'Address Settings', enter Custom > 'IP Address Setting', enter Automatic > 'DNS Setting', Automatic > 'Proxy Server', don't think you need that!, enter Do Not Use > 'Internet Browser', Start > 'Enter the connection name.', name it what you what it to be > 'Setting List', scroll through to see if everything's correct > 'Press the O/X button to save settings.' > Now it'll appear on the 'Select connection' page again. This time, click on your home connection... DONE!

- I suggest you to save say Google as your Home Page, so it'll be more convenient for you on the future! Tools > Settings > Home Page Settings > type in a URL that you want as your Home Page!
- PSP net have very little net memory, so to save some memory, go to Tools > Settings > View Settings > Conserve Memory On.

Don't forget to thank me! Thank me by rating me positively, & 'Was this Useful', YES! XD =)

You can go online with the PSP system and browse the Internet. To start browsing the Internet
  1. Check your PSP system set up:
    • Infrastructure Mode
Make sure your PSP system is set up for Infrastructure mode.
See Setting up Infrastructure mode for details.

    • Internet Connection
Make sure you have an internet connection and your PSP is within range of the wireless access point (or hotspot).
PSP®online connectivity requires internet service and network devices, suchas a DSL or cable modem and a wireless router - for example, a Wi-Fihotspot at a café or a wireless local area network (WLAN) in your home.

    • System Software
Make sure you've got the latest System Software.
Requires PSP system software version of 2.0 or higher. Visit PSP System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.

    • WLAN switch
Make sure the WLAN switch on the left side of the PSP system is turned on so that the PSP system can connect to the internet.

  4. Enter the address for the web page you want to display, select Enter and then press the icn_btnx_color.gif button.
For more information, see Using the On-screen Keyboard.

  5. Select a connection and press the icn_btnx_color.gif button.

  6. The web page is displayed.

  7. To hide the on-screen menu, press the icn_btntriangle_color.gif button.

To close the Internet connection:
  1. With a web page on the screen, press the icn_btncircle_color.gif button.

  2. Select Yes and press the icn_btnx_color.gif button.

  3. The internet browser will close.

If you have issues connecting to the Internet, you may wish to troubleshoot your Infrastructure mode connection.
