I think the problem is that you are losing compression. kinda like a air pump, if you pump it up too much when you first buy it you stand te risk of blowing a seal.

Image goes black and then returns shortly after

Many sets that use lamps do this right before the lamp fails--average life is 2000 hours or 2 years of normal use--if no blinking lights suspect the lamp first.

hi,
All projectors have self dioganisng function. If there is any malfuction inside the projector it will indicated by the LED blinking. You have to inspect how many time the LED blinks or which LED lights condinuosly. LED meas the power light or the lamp light. Then only anybody can suggest you a better solution.

Light of projector is not working

Try to turn off your projector and open it again after 10 minutes. The lamp may be malfunctioning due to overheat. This usually happens when your projector was not turned off properly. The fans inside the projector should slowly cool the lamp inside when turning it off properly causing the projector to be in a standby mode for a couple of minutes before you can completely unplug it.

Well my mom was watching tv and it just shut off so then my mom turned it back on thinking she might have hit the power button accidentally. But when she turns it on it started blinking the green light for...

The flashing light red power light should only stay while the fan cool down for about 1 minute after a power off (remember to always wait before unplugging the TV so the lamp can cool down with the fan). Does that flashing start right away after plugging back the TV after an hour of letting it without AC power.

The red light should flash no longer than 10 sec. This prepare the light to be turned on. If all is OK the green should stay (no longer flashing) and the sound and picture come on.

As for the lamp flashing, i bet it's only 1 time each 5 sec? Or do it group many rapid flash each 5 sec?

Things that can be wrong:
-the fan lamp

-the lamp is not proprely inserted (wait an hour before manipulating it to be sure it cooled down, and use glove to not put body oil on it).

-Lamps is defective and is not operating properly so you can't get to the usual on screen message that recommend to change the lamp.

InFocus IN26 overheating

clean it out. use canned air and blow the dust out of it. sometimes after many overheating issues, the temperature sensor needs to be replaced. but first clean it out and make sure the fans work well. if they spin slowly, replace them.

I would take the Lamp out and see if it is shattered. It is not unusual for them to fail suddenly. If it is shattered, you can contact Sony at 1800-222-SONY and order one.
I hope this helps

MD5880N replaced bulb and worked for 2 hours now nothing

Place heat shielding around the lamp to prevent overheat; use cooling spray (freon) to cool any chips or, circuit boards near the lamp as you attempt to start the set check the lamp for the correct serial # voltage etc.

Just replaced bulb when cold it has trouble lighting.

it's not the lamp, it's the ballast. when it's fully discharged, it needs too much power to start. once it has the caps charged (when it's been running and warm), it'll start right away. it sounds as if the capacitors on the ballast are drying up. best to replace the ballast. after you do, make sure the projector is free of dust and dirt. excessive dust will cause premature power and lamp failure due to lack of cool down.
