On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.
Kenmore front loading washing machines will give you years of service.
Sometimes things do go wrong, especially after the warranty runs out.
Troubleshooting a Kenmore front loading washing machine could save you a
lot of money on a repair bill. Before you call a service technician to
fix your machine, attempt to resolve the issue through simple fixes
first. Washer Code Messages
Your Kenmore front loading washing machine has an LED display that will give you error codes. Will Not Spin
If your washing machine does not
spin, check to make sure the door has latched completely. Also remember
that if your machine is in the SUD cycle it will not spin until it has
eliminated the suds. Washer Is Noisy
If the washer is making noise or
vibrating, check to make sure it is still level. If it is out of level
you can change this by adjusting the feet. Metal belt buckles and
buttons in your laundry could be causing the noise as well.
Door Stays Locked After Cycle
At the end of the wash cycle,
the lock will disengage after about 30 seconds. If it does not, it may
be because the machine still detects that the water has not completely
drained. Just select "Drain" and "Spin" and let the washer go through
the cycle. Your door should unlock.
There is a pull tab at the bottom of the door latch assembly that can be used as a manual release for the door by pulling it down. Lean the washer backwards and unscrew the 3 screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer to remove the lower panel under the door. Once the panel is removed, reach the tab with your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the
right side and pull it down. The door will open. If there is an error prior to the jamming of the door, the door latch assembly must be replaced. Feel free to let me know if that is the case.
I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old
man who has been making his own repairs for about
50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
much to me. It's been about 55 years since I had
experience with front load washers. However I can
suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where
they have very good trouble shooting and repair
information on front loaders. I think you'll find what
you need there. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.
the inlet valves are shot. what happens the coils in the inlet vales can no longer hold the water from going into the unit, causing water to run into unit when not in use. replace the inlet valves and you should be good to go. the inlet valves can be removed by, removing top panel(3screws in back), disconnecting hoses, taking the small clamp on the small hose connected to the dispenser. theirs a small screw holding the inlet valves from back pane, remove old inlet valves and replace and you should be all set. hope it helps.
this is joyce
What I would do in this situation is fix the door lock first before I would do another load of clothes. you can go to Kenmore.com put in your model # and download your manual to your machine if you want to fix yourself
or you can call service tech out. I will help you find one in your area if you need.
