Question about Honda Clutch Cable F200 F210 F260 Tiller

1 Answer

I have a Honda F200 2.5hp cultivator and the clutch cable on the left handle bar needs to be replaced. The inner cable is fine but the threaded adjuster on the handle bar has broken half way along leaving the cable too loose to engage the tiller blades. Can you help?

I replaced the oil cover and missed a step with my clutch now i dont have the right pressure or something when I squeeze my clutch help please

you have to adjust the clutch cable to ensure there is no slack in the inner cable so that the tension is restored?? Just like a car's clutch cable. The method of adjustment is what will take some working out .
The adjustment may include the correct positioning of the cable in brackets. adjustments at the ends or such like.
Sorry if that is not very specific but I work on cars and bicycles

I have a 2004 Honda VT750 Shadow Aero (shaft drive). Clutch apparently needs adjustment. Nuetral is easy to find but when shifting into 1st or 2nd or any other gear, bike stops. Is this a simple cable...

Adjustment is made at clutch end first and then fine-tuned at the handle bar end. Adjust at clutch end until there is no free play on the lever. Then slack off the nut a quarter turn. Test clutch operation and adjust at the lever end if nescessary. Remember to lock the nuts at the clutch end.

WHERE DO I FIND WHER TO PUT IN FLUID FOR CLUTCH FOR MY 1985 HONDA GOLDWING GL 1200 INTERSTATE?

Dot 3/4 brake fluid is added to the clutch master cylinder on the left handle bar. The left (clutch) handle bar lever is attached to the clutch master cylinder. To add fluid you will have to remove the phillips screws (4 x 12 oval screws) holding the cover on. Be sure to lay plastic over the motorcycle (with a towel or rags over that) to protect the bikes plastic and paint from any DOT 3/4 fluid you may spill during the filling or bleeding process. Caution: brake fluid will brittle and crack expensive Honda plastic.

Honda FG100 Tiller - Tines wont move

I took the transmission apart and the gears were fine. The friction pads on the centrifugal clutch don't seem to make full contact with the drum. Does anyone know what the thickness of the friction pads are suppose to be? I used some belt dressing on the pads and got some movement on the tines. With no wear on the gears, I guess I'll be replacing the clutch.

Clutch cable adjusters

Bowden cables like your clutch cable work on the law of the lever. Think of lifting up a heavy weight hanging on a rope using a lever balanced on a fulcrum. The rope is in tension and the fulcrum is in compression. To adjust the point of lift you could either vary the length of the rope or adjust the height of the fulcrum. The outer sleeve of your clutch cable is made out of plastic-coated steel, square-section wire and is resistant to compression forces along its length. This outer sleeve works as your fulcrum and, because it is flexible, lets you put it where it is needed - at the end of your handlebar. The cable inner is like the rope in the lever example and resists only stretching forces. It is threaded down through that snaking fulcrum back to where control movement is needed. The cable adjusters let you fine tune the length of the fulcrum, and therefore the lift range of the inner cable.,,,
