Obviously this is not the first lamp you have replaced in you projector. These are great projectors however, the LCD panels expire quite quickly. You will find that the spots are related to the LCD panels needing to be replaced. This is not an inexpensive maintainence solution as the panels cost about $1500 each.

My friend's TV was well out of warranty and a Sears (the retailer) tech agreed that the engine needed replacement. They called Hitachi Customer Relations who will send the part to the home at no charge. Sears did not charge for the service call, but will charge $242 for labor to install the parts and adjust the TV.
Thanks for the posts. He saved $$$$.

This normally indicates that the lamp will need replacement.
The Ibook and this Projector are compatible as long as you run a Microsoft operating system i.e. Windows 98' and higher.
When replacing the lamp , you can just as well clean out the Projector - this is quite important as it prolongs the life of your lamp.

Hi, when I last posted I found that luckily I was covered by my insurance/warranty (good 5 yr cover from House of Fraser!) so we had an engineer come and check the tv. Within seconds of seeing the tv he diagnosed the screen as duff and said it would have to be replaced. Even more luckily, the insurance paid out for the full value of the tv to the value when we purchased it so after retiring the 'screen of inconsistency' we quickly went about finding another and we finally bought a 32" Panasonic Viera. Again from the House of Fraser and again with a good old 5 year cover!! It would seem with LCDs, reliability is not yet there so the correct cover is the key to a happy life!! Good luck.
