Simply because it won't wrok.
USB will only transfer stills from a cardn not video from the tape.
Use an appropriate firewire cable, also called iLink or IEEE1394.

My canon mv30i doesnt have a usb so i cant film and so put it on my pc :(

Purchase USB to 4-Pin 1394 FireWire Adapter cable. This will be very slow to transfer but should work and is a cheap solution.

Best solution of course is to buy and fit a FireWire port and cable to your desktop computer ( if that's what you are using ) and use that to download your video using the camera's FireWire port as intended.

Hi, I have a JVC GR-D750AA digital video camera. I do not know how to download the things recorded to my PC. I have also bought the USB cable n tried but the camera USB port is not recogned by the PC. I do...

Turn the power switch on your camcorder to "Off." Connect the USB cable that came with the camcorder to the USB port on the camcorder. If you are using the DV cable, connect one end of the cable to the computer first. Put the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. If you are using the DV cable, connect it to the camcorder. Power on your camcorder. Wait while your computer recognizes the attached JVC GR-D270U camcorder. Typically you will get a pop-up on your screen asking how you want to proceed once the camcorder has been recognized. Open your video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Roxie, iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Import, or capture, the video from the camcorder to your computer using the video editing software. For example, in iMovie you click on "File," then "Import from Camera" to download the movie from your camcorder to the computer.

I dnt hav usb cable for my handy cam DCR-HC52E ...

Product Summary
4-pin to 4-pin IEEE 1394 iLink FireWire Cable dv out to laptop Connect and transfer home movie from your digital camcorder to Notebook computer.

You will need a Firewire port on your computer, also known as a DV port or IEEE 1394, to use this cable. This is NOT a USB cable.

This DV cable will connect your laptop (notebook)
NOTE: for some models, becuase of no DV jack on the body, this cable connects to docking station/cradle instead of connecting directly to your camcorder.

I am trying to find that what type of cable I

depending on what connection you have on your computer. You can use usb to usb or dv to dv. If you use usb to usb it's pretty straightforward but if you go dv to dv just make sure which dv connector you have on your computer 4 or 6 pin. If you don't have a manual for your jvc , go to their website and download one. All of the info will be in there, usually towards the back of the manual. My suggestion would be if you have a dv connector on your pc you should use that setup because it is faster than usb. But if you don't have a dv connector, usb to usb is fine. Have fun.

Cant detect camera on dv video recording transfers.

Hi, I hope the camera you are talking about is ZR200 Mini DV.
As per its specifications. It has a firewire/DV port.
Therefore, follow these steps. I assume you are using this cable. http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/L10726964.jpg

I am not sure how you used the firewire cable before.
So, try this. Connect one end of the cable to computer and other to the camera. Switch on the camera and keep it in play/ edit mode (not in shooting mode).
When you connect the other end to the computer,  There should be a popup asking you what to do.
If there is no popup,  Open Windows Movie maker and import video from device. You should see the camera in it.
Hope it works.

Panasonic dv web cam I cant dect it on my computer

Most likely you are connecting the camcorder to the PC via USB. In that case the video most likely cannot be transferred due to the fact that this is a master-slave (copy and paste) interface. In this case you would need a peer to peer (streaming) interface to copy from the miniDV tape - which would require a DV cable. The camera may have a 4-pin, but your PC might have a different configuration - usually also 4-pin or 6-pin. When you find out, you will need to get a 4-pin to X-pin DV interface cable that is OHCI compliant and you should be set. To capture the video, put the camera in playback mode and use whatever software you prefer - MovieMaker works well. Good luck.

Transfer movie from mini tape to computer - JVC GR-D770U

Product called EasyCap, for about 15 bucks, "can be found online" Has USB plug. Use your cable that has the 3.5 pin that goes out to rca cable, yellow, white and red. EasyCap has the RCA to USB then to computer. Use Windows Movie Maker, comes with XP & Vista, capture while playing from there. I just converted about 20 full tapes from one cannon mini 8 and 15 from a jvc dv onto a TB drive.

Puttiny videos on my computer

Let me tell you that you can only store stills taken from your camera that too in still mode initiated on your GR-D370. To transfer video to your computer you require a firewire cable, a DV port on your PC.
