Insp 1525, Fn + Right arrow key should take care of this for you.

Laptop won't turn on, no signs of life apart from red light.

Hi!
In that case you have to consult into a technician.
It might be a little configuration into BIOS.

Computer freezes right after start up

Try to turn off the laptop. Remove the cables and battery on it , press and hold the power button for 8 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop. Turn it on, then check if the pc freezes up. If it is, check if your keyboard has lights on it. If there is no lights, need to call compaq to replace the motherboard. If keyboard has lights and you dont know how to remove the parts inside your laptop, you still call compaq to replace the power supply or the video card of your laptop.

I can no longer turn it on. Why?

Two things that we seriously consider, one is that if the lights on the keyboard is lit? Normally, when you turn on the laptop, lights on the keyboard lit so that the motherboard which is inside of your laptop will generate the necessary circuitry for your pc. Second is that if the monitor turns it on . Well we can diagnose your request, make sure you turn off the laptop and remove the cables and battery to it . Then press and hold the power button for 8 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on your laptop and turn on the laptop. Observe it very closely. If the lights on the keyboard did not lit, then there is a problem with the motherboard. For that, you need to call HP and set an appointment with a technician to replace the motherboard. Otherwise if it is lit (keyboard), then check if the monitor is on. If the screen is off, then there is a problem with the video card which is also inside of your laptop. If you dont know how to remove and reinsert it back, then call a technician. If you know, then try to reseat the video card. If the symptom persist, then call HP to replace your video card.

Computer wont turn on

Hi,
Are you able to access the BIOS Menu before the Keyboard Locks up?
If not, then try getting hold of a USB Keyboard and plugging that in, hopefully this will atleast allow you to get into the BIOS.
Then if your able to get into the BIOS, You'll want to Reset th Laptop to the Default (Factory) Settings. This will then put the Laptop back to the Original Config State in which you purchased it.
If your still stuck, then there's not much else you can really do without having the additional keyboard to plug in, as even if you use the Recovery Disc to try and reload the keyboards drivers, that still requires you to use the keyboard itself in order to set the BIOS up so that it Boots from you CD/DVD Drive First.
If after all that. and you restart your Laptop to find the keyboard is not working, then I'd phone HP if I were you (If it's still under warranty of course) and get the problem fixed.
