Question about Hitachi 57F500 57" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

2 Answers

Well here is the problem I have Hitachi rear projection TV model # 50EX12BA V5K02256 the TV turns on and changes channels. When I go to the menu items (to program the channels for example) via the remote. None of the menu options work. the remote works I can scroll to and select an option and press the enter button (as per the manual instructions) but nothing happens. Is there a way to do a hard reset to return the tv back to factory settings?

The only Hard Reset is - unplug the set for 20 minutes and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Try tapping/knocking on various parts of the TV to see it a bad solder joint is responsible. It could also be some component getting too hot or aged to the point of malfunction.
Don't waste any money trying to fix this, rear projection TVs are dinosaurs.

Unplug tv. Remove cable from tv input. Plug tv back in and turn on THEN reinsert cable to where it was previously. This procedure was given to me by Hitachi csr & it worked.

Change from TV mode to AV mode for a Hitachi C28W4110SN

There should be buttons somewhere on the TV itself to switch input modes. Look around where the power button is located and see if there is a menu button you can access. Then use channel up/down and volume up/down to scroll thru modes to find input

Hope this helps

From what i can find, you need to adjust the convergence of the individual projectors. One person said you need to adjust them once a month for optimal conditions, but also said once a year will suffice. I have an extra blue image, and although i was able to clean i dont know how many years of grime off the lenses and the mirror, i lack a remote that will operate the menu. I only have one universal remote by RCA that will operate the channels and volume, but not the input (im using S video input) nor the menu functions. You may have to buy a Hitachi remote (1-800-Remotes wants $40 for it), but i will try to get a better universal one and will post back if i have success.

Part number for IC module Hitachi 50EX12BA?

The Hitache 50EX12BA uses 2 IC's labeled STK392-110. If you are looking in the back of the set, the convergence IC's are mounted on the large heat sink on the right side. If one of the IC's has burned out, go ahead and replace both IC's with the newer improved STK392-150 IC's. These IC's are very common and can be ordered from almost any electronics parts supplier. When installing the new IC's you will need to clean off the old heat sink compound and apply fresh compound to the back of both IC's.
