For a Mitsubishi Pajero 4m40 diesel - After a cold start, the engine runs for about 40secs.using up all the fuel in the fuel filter then cuts off, starving for fuel. I have changed the primer pump and fuel filter but the problem persists. I ran a direct fuel line from the fuel tank to the fuel pump and the vehicle starts and runs very well. What could be the reason for the fuel filter not refilling after the initial start?

Why is oil going into diesel tank of my 4m40 engine

There could be fault in the Fuel pump allowing Engine oil to leak into the fuel return line. You will need a fuel pump overhaul.
