Question about Canon PIXMA MP150 All-In-One InkJet Printer
The waste ink absorber is two sets of pads that absorb ink during cleaning cycles and such. The counter that indicates that the absorber is full is set for a value that should be reached near the end of life of the printer. Additional failures may occur soon. If the printer is under warranty, get Canon to do the job.
If you wish to proceed with cleaning the waste ink pads:
This procedure will be messy. Have plenty of newspaper to absorb the excess ink. One group of pads is under the resting position of the cartridges (where they go when the unit is not in use). with the printer off and unplugged, move the cartridge carrier out of the way and pull out the pads. Blot off the excess ink and blot the spot where the pads sit. Run the pads under running water until the water runs clear. The other is at the very bottom of the printer. You need to disassemble the printer from the top to reach these pads. There are several screws to remove. (Some suggest taking pictures to aid in reassembling the printer.) Repeat the blot and clean procedure for these pads at the bottom. Dry all of the pads (you can use a blow dryer to speed the process). Put the pads back into the printer and reassemble it.
Next reset the waste ink counter (do not do this step without cleaning the pads or ink will eventually get everywhere):
1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button 4 times.
Some have better luck if they hold the power button throughout the sequence. Press and hold Power while holding the Stop/Reset button. When the Power LED is lit, press Stop/Reset twice. Wait a few seconds then press Stop/Reset 4 times. Release both buttons. Then press the power button to turn off the printer (expect a slow response). Turn the printer back on and the error should have cleared.
I hope this helps.
