SOURCE: error code PE on top loader(LG)

Check the pressure switch -the system that determines correct waterlevel in the drum. If its giving an incorrect indication to the programtimer machine will either overfill, refuse to fill or refuse to spin. Its an air operated diaphragm switch triggered by rising air pressureinduced by the entry of water into an airtight vessel attached to thebase of the drum. It tells the program timer that the water has reachedthe correct level, allowing it to proceed to the water heating stage inthe cycle. Power off, drag machine out onto the floor, remove backcover and top cover. The pressure switch is a round item about 3 inchesacross with several wires and a thin rubber pipe attached. It generallysits just under the top cover. Disconnect the thin rubber pipe from theswitch and blow down through it to clear any blockage. Switch itselfmay be faulty but its more likely the pressure pipe or the vesselattached to the other end of the pipe is blocked. Some machines havethe pressure vessel integrated as part of the filter unit, with apressure chamber moulded into the top of the filter body. Remove thepressure vessel, put a small nut or screw in it, fill it with water andshake vigorously till any crud or residue is removed. Refit all parts, check that joints and connections are water tight.
Also check the filter itself - generally located behind a panel at thefoot of the machine. Some are obvious like little square hatches andsome are hidden behind the trim panel at the foot of the machine. Oncepanel is removed the filter should be visible. Its generally a circularplastic fitting which unscrews in an anticlockwise direction. Somehotpoint, indesit and ariston filters are located in the big black sumphose (the one that leaves the bottom of the outer drum and connects tothe pump). Power off, drag machine out onto the floor, remove backcover or tip machine up at an angle. Locate sump hose, remove thetensioner clip by squeezing the tabs together with a large pair ofpliers or vise grips, remove the hose, take out filter and clean. Beprepared for spillage of water. May help if the machine is tiltedbackwards at an angle.

SOURCE: My LG Turbo-Drum Top washing

The fault code PE indicates a pressure sensor problem. The problem is either the pressure switch is bad, the wire harness connection between the pressure switch and the PCB assembly is bad, or the pressure hose is clogged, blocked, or kinked.

Disconnect power and remove two back panel fixing screws on the back side then pull the back panel up to expose the machine controls including the pressure switch.

Check to make sure the wire harness connection between the pressure switch and the PCB assembly is intact, the connectors are clean and corrosion-free, and the pressure hose is attached correctly to the pressure switch. Inspect the pressure hose for clogs and kinks then blow air forcefully down into the pressure switch.

Remove the rear access panel and continue inspecting the pressure switch down to the bottom of the tub. Make sure the pressure hose is clear, not kinked, and no air leaks.

Replace the pressure switch if there are no issues found with the wire harness connections, connectors and the pressure hose. Simply remove the pressure once accessed as instructed above then stall the new one in place. Connect the wire harness and the pressure hose to the pressure switch then reinstall the back panel back into position to complete the repair.

The pressure switch is part number 6600FA1704L. I believe you are in Australia and you can find and purchase the pressure switch from BigWarehosue. Just click on the links (underlined words) provided and you will be redirected to the site.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
'PE' for LG's decodes as 'sensing water pressure error'/'pressure switch fault'. which is not that helpful- inlet or outlet water pressure! I would try this first as I suspect it is talking about outlet/drain water.
Here are my guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!
John C

Lg wf-t1022tp gives a PE error code.

Try this first before replacing any parts or disassembling your LG washer:
- Unplug the washing machine for 1 minute.
- Plug the washing machine back into power.
- Restart the wash cycle.
- The washing machine may now have cleared the PE error code, if not see below...

You will need to check the wiring harness that connects the water level pressure sensor to the main control board.
- Check for a loose wire harness, a damaged wire harness, or a burnt faulty wire.
- Check that you get continuity through the wire harness by checking it with a multimeter.
- If the wire harness from the water level pressure sensor to the main control board is found to be faulty, replace it.
- If you get continuity and the wiring harness is securely connected to both the water level pressure sensor and the main control board, then proceed to the step below...

Water Level Pressure Sensor Switch Is Faulty And Needs To Be Cleaned Or Removed And Replaced.
Most commonly, if the wire harness is secure, tight, and not damaged, the part that needs to be checked is the water level pressure sensor.
- First check to be sure the water level pressure sensor is not caked with hard water or other debris.
- If the water level pressure sensor is not clean, the PE error can display.
- Remove the water level pressure sensor from your LG washer and clean off any hard water or debris.
- Clean out the tube that connects to the
- If you found the water level pressure sensor was caked with debris and you have cleaned it, replace it back into the washer and run a test.
- If the washer runs without the PE error code displaying, the washer is fixed and the PE error has been cleared.
- If you find that the water level pressure sensor is faulty, remove it and replace with a new OEM part.

Replacing the water level pressure sensor simply involves locating the sensor in your LG washer. Remove it from the washer and replace it with a new genuine LG washer part. Test washer to be sure the PE error code has cleared and the washer is now working properly

What dose PE MEAN

The PE error or fault code indicates that the machine is overfilling with water. This washer is equipped with a water level pressure switch. As the machine fills, the pressure increases on the switch, at the set pressure, the switch cuts power to the water inlet valve and the water stops flowing into the washer. If the pressure switch fails to sense properly, or the water inlet valve fails to shut off the unit can overfill. This situation can also be caused if the machine does not drain properly. First, check to see if water ever enters the machine when it is turned off. If so, replace the water inlet valve. Next, check the drain line to be sure it's not clogged or kinked. Next, check to see if the drain pump is working properly and removing the water from the previous cycle. If all of those check out, you may need to replace the pressure switch.

The error code "PE" stands for pressure sensor error. This is typically caused by a malfunctioning water pressure sensor switch.
