Question about NRS Efco 9" Swivel Hedge Clipper Attachment for 3600, 8370 and 8410 Trimmers

Open Question

The Efco hedge trimmer head looks like it is well built and is relatively inexpensive. I'm wondering if it can be bolted onto the end of a straight shaft trimmer of another brand. Does it have a 1/4" drive shaft like most of those?

I need a manual for a Ryobi RHT500R Electric Hedge Trimmer 500 Watt - 55cm

I found the manual for the Ryobi hedge trimmer here: fr.ryobitools.eu/local/uploaded/catalog/e_RHT500R-600RL_UM_UK_v1.pdf . The bolts you describe hold the blade to the hedge trimmer's motor. They shouldn't have come loose. However you can check if any of the bolts are loose or have backed out of the motor.

I would suspect either a part of the branch is stuck between the blades. I have one of the small edge trimmer which gets noisy when I get a woody weed stuck in the unit. Unplug the trimmer and look at the blade for some bark stuck between the layers. On each side there are multiple blades that overlap at parts of the cutting cycle.

A parts diagram for the RHT500R is available here: http://www.magic-parts.co.uk/acatalog/Ryobi_RHT500R.php .

II hope this helps.

Where can I get the blades sharpened? Marco Stratford CT 06614

you can do it yourself with instructions from ehow.com. see below OR you can get it done at a small engine shop repair, where they fix the lawnmowers, slingtrimmers and chainsaws such as Makita, shtil or any other company that makes them. Hope this helps!
How to Sharpen Hedge Trimmer Blades Instructions Things You'll Need
  • Metal filer Eye protective goggles
  1. Sharpen Your Shears
    • 1 Place the hedge trimmers on a flat surface. Ensure that the blades are pointed away from your body.
    • 2 Position a pair of pliers around the bolt on your hedge trimmers. Clamp the pliers on the bolt securely.
    • 3 Twist the bolt counter-clockwise to remove it.
    • 4 Separate the paired blades.
    • 5 Hold one of the handles with the blade facing away from you. Slide a metal filer down the length of the blade until you reach the pointed end. Continue to sharpen the blade for a minute or two, and then do the same with the other blade.
    • 6 Test the blades with a piece of paper. Hold a piece of paper next to the blade, and then try to cut the paper without using a lot of force. If the paper slices easily, then your blades are completely sharpened. If the blades do not cut the paper, continue to sharpen the blades with the metal filer, and repeat the paper test.

The blades on my hedge trimmer stopped moving even though the engine is running

There is a cable that runs down the shaft and some times when grass gets built up on the head it will overheat and melt the plastic piece that runs the blades. you will have to get a new shaft
