Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Will not drain. I have checked the drain hose for blockages, nothing there. I pulled the drain hose from the pump and the dirty water flowed out.

Drain pump not working anymore. Depending on your make & model there are a few ways to acces the drain pump, but most common practice is removing the Top Panel (fastened by 2 screws at the back) and then the side panels. A normal Dishwasher should be attached to the sump.

Replace it and all should be fine, the reason why dirty water is coming out when you remove the hose is called a Siphoning effect. The dirty water is what your drain pump can not push out of the dishwasher.

Kind Regards :-)

Clothes coming out soaking wet

put it in the spin cycle and if nothing is coming out the drain hose it is most likely the drain pump ....just a fyi some are easier than others to replace.
I don't see the make and model of this machine so to give you specifics I can't. just general directions.
also I would check under the dasher there is a screen under there if you wash DIRTY clothes and maybe add a case of dog/cat hair it could be restricting the flow but wouldn't stop it totally.
also another fyi if you do get to that point use a toothbrush to clean it as you don't want to poke any holes in it.
Hope this helps.

Washer not draining

First is machine spinning? machine only drains in spin mode.
If machine not spinning check lid is closed and check lid switch and plastic plunger that operates the switch located on the lid.
If machine is spinning then most likely a blockage on the drain hoses or pump. if there is water in the machine, lower the rear drain hose to low level, if water starts to flow out the hoses are not blocked, more likely a pump failure. To replace pump first drain all water from the machine with drain hose at low level.
Tilt machine back and remove the belt from below.
Remove the front panel.
To gain access and remove front panel insert a knife or thin blade approx. 4" in the from each side in between the front seam on the front panel, this will release the lid clips, lift and hinge back the lid panel, remove the two screws securing the front panel and remove.
Pump on right hand side at the back, disconnect main hose from pump by squeezing hose clip with pliers (may be a bit of water remaining). Unbolt pump and pull forward with the drain hose attached until it can be disconnected and pump fully removed.
Check pump for blockage and damage to impellor, replace/refit in reverse order.

Water did not drain from the bottom

Hello Cheryl, There are a couple of possibilities. When the dishwasher drains the dirty water it is a time based function. This leads me to believe it is a blockage or partial blockage in the drain hose.
Here is an example. (If your dishwasher drains into your garbage disposal) washing dishes you put scraps into the disposal and forget to turn it on after you are done. The disposal is filled with scraps this restricts the flow of dirty waterfrom the dishwasher. If the flow is restricted less water is being drained per second from the dishwasher. This is why the dishes still looked clean and there was still water in the bottom of the dishwasher.
(if your dishwasher drains into a drain pipe) there is blockage or partial blockagein the dishwasher drain hose. if the sink drains slowly the blockage is in the main line
Hope this helps

Error cde E20 on zanussi zwf 1631

E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.

Disconnect the drain hoses and check for blockages. If no blockage "time" the drain interval. If it's more than 6 minutes it's the pump. Also make sure you're using the correct type of soap so the ball check valve on the bottom of the outer drum isn't getting fouled with excessive suds. Also disconnect the drain hose from your house plumbing and let it free flow on it's own. This will tell you if the blockage is in your plumbing and not in the machine.

The spine cycle seem slow need to run more then once

check the tub to pump and pump to drain for blockages of debris, the pump should drain the bulk of the water, then it should spin out the rest unless the belt is that glazed, get to the spin cycle and pull out the washer drain hose out of the house drain stand pipe and see how much force water is while being pumped out while just pumping and not spinning, there should be the water stream the size of the inside of the drain hose and good velocity of water flow to the drain
