Question about Televison & Video
Hi, well sorry to hear you had a blackout, these are very serious events, well not so much as the Off part of the blackout, more the ON time, you see, when the power is suddenly cut off, the appliances are still in the ON position, and still plugged in.
Now when the power is reconnected, the enormous surge that happens at the instant of turn on, can, and does usually cause damage to all parts of the appliances.
You see it it not maybe well known but whenever there is a power outage one, should immediately, go around and turn to OFF, (ON the actual appliance) and also remove each appliances cord from the wall socket.
Also, switch off the Main House breaker. When one is sure that the power has been restored, well then one may re-engage the circuit breaker and then go round replacing the power cables and turning back on each appliance. Doing this will essentially stop any possible damage from happening.
Ok on to your problem, I would then assume from what you describe that your set has in turn suffered a power spike/surge and this has caused the "Fault" with the set. locking the tuning and locking out the remote. Also usually damage is done to the power supply, as well as other areas usually, too.
unfortunately due to the type and nature of the possible damage done, this really is a job for a professional. So the very best thing to do, is contact either a local or head office of your sets manufacturer, now ask them for a referral to an authorised service center. Now when in contact with them, FIRST ask for a "Quote" ONLY, as to the cost and type of repairs that need to be done.
You see doing this will then enable you to make an informed decision as to repair or replace. I say this as many of my customers these days say they prefer to put the monies that would have been spent on repairs, towards a New set, with a full warranty. I cannot argue with that logic?

Why is the remote not working, are the batteries dead? You need a working remote to re-tune the set. If your remote is dead then you will need to get a universal and program it for your set, then you can get to the tuning section.
