How do you use proofed feature

If I understand correctly Carol, you want to know about the 'prove' feature on your oven?

In bread making the proving part of the process is where low heat is makes the bread dough rise. It is a barely warm setting just about blood heat. It makes the yeast release carbon dioxide bubbles which makes the bread rise.

How do you get it to unlock

If the model number you have this listed under is correct, the locking feature can be turned on/off by holding the Heated Dry button for 4 seconds. This is a safety feature that prevents unintended use of the dishwasher. This is usually meant to prevent small children from inadvertently turning the unit on.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Rangetop works, Broiler works, oven does not.Electrics seem fine; Should I check the solenoid valve first?

For future reference, you need to explain whether this is a GAS or ELECTRIC range. It does make a difference in diagnosing the problem you have.

If this is a GAS range, the problem is more than likely a faulty igniter on the bake manifold. Since the bake feature gets used more often, it is common for the igniter to wear out faster. The following link explains how the igniters work and instructions on replacing one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

If this is an ELECTRIC range, the problem is more than likely a defective heating element for the bake feature. The same reason applies. Since the bake feature gets used more frequently, the elements wear out much quicker. The next link explains how to replace a heating element:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r469407-replacing_bake_or_broil_element_in

I don't know what solenoid you are asking about, but if this is in reference to a gas safety valve or regulator, you would have similar problems with the broil functions if the there was a gas flow problem. Since MOST ranges are fed from a common regulator, gas flow to all the features would be impacted.

Replacement parts can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com, pcappliancerepair.com, searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com. All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop around for the best price. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Air conitioner turns on by itself

The GE Zoneline units have small DIP switches inside the unit where you can turn various functions on or off. The units have a feature called Heat Sentinel that turns the A/C on at a certain room temperature, even when the unit is turned off. It also has a Freeze Sentinel that turns the heat on automatically, even when the unit is turned off. You can turn off the heat and freeze Sentinel features with the DIP switches in the unit. There are other features you may want to turn off. Read the owner's manual and it will tell you where the switches are and which ones turn off the features. Hope this helps.
