Question about Nikon COOLPIX S630 Digital Camera

2 Answers

My Coolpix S630's on/off switch on top of the camera is stuck in the down position, so I cannot operate anything on the li'l D80 back-up. I love the li'l bugger and hope the problem can be remedied. I will admit to having a case of the dropsies, but in the last episode, the leather case was on the camera (it helps a bit, I'm hoping).

Stuck buttons seem to be a common problem for Coolpix models. They're typically an easy fix most of the time if you can get the button unjammed. Sometimes the rubber piece inside the button slips and it causes the button to jam. If you're feeling gutsy enough, you can open the case of the camera yourself and dislodge the button so it returns to a normal position. The screws are typically in plain sight, and it's just a matter of removing those and popping the case open. Of course, if you're afraid of breaking the camera yourself, don't do this! Sometimes you can find a local camera repair shop who can do this for a small fee. Hope this helps!

I would advise that u take the camera 2 an expert repairer. U shld mke sure that u keep ur camera in a dust n moisture free environment 2 avoid future jaming. As for the switch u need 2 open and pop it back into position n make sure u do not pres it too hard when u operate it in the future. Also b very careful whn u open it coz the screws are so smal n there are minute n delicate parts inside.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Hi, I have a Nikon coolpix S630 camera - 8 mnths old. Whenever I switch on the camera it says 'Battery Exhausted' and when I try to recharge the same, but it is not charging. Please help. /Suresh

if the camera still under warranty, i suggest to bring it to the center to have it checked both the battery and the cable and also the camera for possible problem. i have a nikon cam before and experienced the same problem, after sending it to the service center, they replaced the battery with a new one and the camera is now ok.

My Nikon S630 says "memory

Take the memory card out of the camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

You could have dirt or a malfunction of the optical system. Get it to a local electronist to get it cleaned.

It comes up memory card is write protected. What does that mean?

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, write-protecting it. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card, enabling write.

If the switch is already in the unlock position, slide it fully the other way and then back again. If that doesn't work, try a different card.
