This sounds classic to a thermo problem where a part(s) are becoming thermo sensitive with aga and use. When the set is cold and then warmed up, the defective part(s) is changing characteristics.
Some components became thermo sensitive that are driving the display. Or an embeded component in the display itself became thermo sensitive. It is very possible that the fault is on the board that does the X - Y addressing or on the backplane electronics of the display screen itself.
Using the set with defective components is a bad idea. If the part(s) fail completely and go shorted or opened, other more costly damage can be done.
The service rep for the manufacture of your set is equiped and trained to be able to troubleshoot and service your set.
You will have to take the set in to have it serviced.

Is the fault on the screen forced top manifest when the screen is tapped? If it is then take the back off the tv with the power off and check that all leads are not loose and secured ok.Next check that the power supply usually mounted central, has no capacitor tops bulging with possibly brown leakage. If so, replace faulty capacitors or replace power supply. If all is visibly ok, remove the T-Con board which is mounted top centre of screen and clean LCd screen ribbons. Then remount t-con and test again..if fault is still present then it may be the backlight connections in the LCD screen loose and arcing causing video distortion.Hope this helpls :)
