Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..http://192.168.0.1
    The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now configure the wireless settings.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wi...

Now configure the wireless card in the Toshiba with the D-Link's wireless settings eg, SSID and encryption etc.

Now move the LAN cable from the Toshiba and connect a LAN cable from the DSL modem to the WAN/Internet port on the D-Link.

Your Toshiba should now connect to the -Link and the Internet.

Don't waste any more of your time trying to find one. Even if you found one, you more than likely wouldn't be able to get it to work well with a modern wireless router. Get a wireless USB adapter instead. You can get them for less than $10 from just about anywhere and it will actually work without hassle with your wireless router.

I have a toshiba 1905-S301. I bought a Belkin Play USB adapter to add this computer to our wireless network. Every time I connect it tells me it fails. Do I need to by a different type of wireless...

What type of router do you have? Is it a B, G or N? The Belkin Play's will not work with B-Router's.
It could be the adapter itself. If you just purchased it try exchanging it and see what happens with the next one.
I hardly ever recommend Belkin anything....I have and will always use Linksys.

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L550D-11N

Unfortunately you have to know your security key, it's there for your privacy protection, like passwords to your e-mail or other services.
You have to ask the person who set up the router about the password (key), or ask that person to change it to a new one - and this time write it down and put in a safe place, where you can find it in the future, like on a piece of paper pasted on the router box.
If you change the key on the router, and have other computer(s) using this connection, you will have to re-enter the new key on those machines.

Just bought a toshiba laptop and my computer is

Basically the wireless card in the laptop needs to be configured with your wireless router's setings.
To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

Bought a toshiba satel laptop and want to router it to dell dimen

You don't need a router for the laptop it has a wireless card in it already, buy a router for your home PC and I would buy a linksys with cap 5 network cables and wireless connections so you can use the printer off of the home computer PC. If you have high speed Internet you can request for a router for free with a wireless and cap 5-cable capacity.

Internet connection keeps dropping

That may sound like a "roaming tendency" issue, with your laptop wireless card or settings, and/or general radio interference. try checking and tweaking the advanced settings of your wireless card, and maybe check for outside interference between your computer and router. Many cards have roam settings that dictate how often they roam between APs. I too live in an apartment complex, where other neighbors have their own WiFi router and there can be interference, and "intrusion issues" :? if your equipment is not properly set and secured.

Re:ISlow nternet in my Toshiba Satellite Laptop

You need to secure your router. Your router might be unsecured and your neighbors can connect to it without you knowing and you get to share the bandwidth of your internet to them which causes it to slow down. Contact your router manufacturer and have them assist you securing it. Others tend to connect to unsecured network and have free internet.

Hope this helps.
