You have to remove the center cover, the right end cover, the electronics module, the power supply, the service station, the ink supplies tubes, the carriage assembly and then you can release the belt from the bottom of the carriage assembly.

Please don't do it, unless you have been trained, or have much money, or you just want to junk the printer.

During initialisation it shows dat there is jam

during the warm up cycle the carriage has to reach both ends of the scan platten if for any reason it is not able to achive this it throws the error Paper jam or 86:01 ( both mean the same thhing)
what you need to do:-
1) disconnect the plotter from the mains
2) open the central lid and using a torch look carefully along the carriage path for any obstacles or debris that may interfere with the carriage motion.
3) assuming there is no obvious blockages look carefully at the carriage drive belt to see if the imprinted teeth have worn off you may also see what looks like mouse droppings on the print platen
4) remove the right end cap - move the sercvice staion out of the way of the carriage and then gently ease the carriage to both left and right extents checking all the while for debris, leave the carriage on the left and leave the service station out of home position, return the mains lead and allow th plotter to initialize checking to see if the plotter is able to move both assemblies as required.if not then call out a qualifed enginner to replace defective drive belt or carriage assembly or indeed the service station

86:01 error in designjet 500 plus Paper jam...

System Error: 86:01
Problem Description: Carriage-Axis shutdown.
Corrective Action:
If this error code appeared but was NOT caused by a paper jam, then try the following:
  • Too much friction in the Slider Rod. Enter the Printer Information utility and check the Scan-Axis usage. If the percentage is close to 100%, then lubricate the Slider Rod.
  • The Carriage is bumping into the Service Station. If the carriage is stuck at the right hand side of the Printer and cannot be moved out to the center of the Print Platen it is because the Service Station cannot uncap the Printheads. In this case replace the Service Station/Aerosol Fan Assembly
  • Perform the Carriage Movement test

My problem is after claibration i receive a message POWER OFF AND CHECK PRINTHEAD CLEANER PATH

Something is blocking the printhead cleaner assembly from moving forward and backward.
Turn the plotter off, open the printhead cleaner access cover (RH side) and see if you can move the cleaners to the front of the machine.
If you can move them fairly easily, then try (with the plotter still off) to move the carriage assembly (holds the printheads) to the left of the machine.
Check the condition of the carriage belt for frayed areas or missing belt teeth.
(I suspect a worn out carriage belt is causing the problem)
With the cleaner assembly to the front, and the carriage to the left, turn the plotter back on and see if the error continues.

On my HP 1050C Designjet I am getting the error 'Check printhead path Type 2. Then it says to switch off.

Hello. The "Check Print Head Path" error is usually a worn out carriage belt on printers more than 5 years old. Open the top cover and examine the area under the belt and look for debris that looks like pencil erasure crumbs. Other possible problems could be the tube system catching on something as the carriage moves, the encoder strip being very dirty or extreme friction between the carriage bushings and the rails they move on. If the belt needs to be replaced, a replacement kit can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-790-hp-designjet-belt-replacement-kits.aspx
Hope this helps.

I have problem with my 5500 hp: check printhead path 2

The most common cause of the Check Print Head Path Error 2 is a worn out carriage belt. Open the top cover and locate the carriage belt. It is the long thin belt that extends the full length of the plotter. Use a light and look under the belt for debris that looks like pencil erasure crumbs. If the crumbs are there, the belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced. See: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-732-designjet-5000-5500-belt.aspx

DESIGNJET 755cm ERROR MESSAGE: TURN OFF PLOTTER CHECK PAPER PATH. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS BLOCKAGE TO PAPER PATH

If there is no obvious obstruction in the print head path, the most likely problem is a worn carriage belt. Open the front lid and check for rubber crumbs under the carriage belt. If there are crumbs, the belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced.

The service manual can be downloaded from: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm and the parts are available at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-736-designjet-1050c-belt.aspx

Check printhead path

Check for free carriage motion by unplugging the printer while the carriage is in the print area of the plotter. Open the top cover and move the carriage to check for free movement. If there are rubber crumbs under the belt, the belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. Manual can be downloaded from: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm

There's an error appears. It was error number 86

86.01 can be a couple of issues pertaining to the movement of the carriage assembly.
1. Too much friction in the Slider Rod. Lubricate the slider rod.
2. The Carriage is bumping into the Service Station. If the carriage
is stuck at the right hand side of the Printer and cannot be moved
out to the center of the Print Platen it is because the Service
Station cannot uncap the Printheads. In this case replace the
Service Station/Aerosol Fan Assembly.
3. Check the carriage belt for wear. Check the carriage path for debris. If the belt is worn, replace the belt. Also, clean the teeth on the carriage drive motor, the debris from the belt will accumulate on the teeth.

turn and unplug for 30 secs then open and remove / re-install each ink barrel according to your manual. You will have to go through the ink installation on your keypad one by one.
