Why did my front drive line free wheel before chaning out the tranny ,and now it will not free spin at all

if trans changed out and no movement and front is not freewheeling did you check and or dropped out the transfer case to check if stuck damaged or engaged ---or the new transmission is operational ---check the 4x4 actuator to see what position it is in or pull it out and check if damaged or stuck --lastly have you pulled the covers off the front and rear axles to make sure their nor frozen or damaged -do the transfer case check first disconnect the front driveshaft and check for freewheel do the same with rear driveshaft and rear with axles off and transmission in neutral try to turn tailshaft of transmission than try yoke of transfer case if any of these units dont move than thats where you check for problem

I have a go go elite traveller plus , the battery pack will not lift off my scooter it seems to be stuck , i need to replace the batteries

The manual for this scooter is at http://www.discovermymobility.com/store/scooters/summit-scooters/elite-portable-scooter/manual.pdf
The closest info I can find is page 14. MOVING AND TRANSPORTING YOUR Easy Travel Elite
6.1. Moving Your Easy Travel Elite in Freewheel Mode when unfolded:
The Freewheel switch (Fig. 1/17) is used for releasing the brake and moving the Easy Travel Elite without operating the motor. Before activating, make sure your Easy Travel Elite is switched on. Turn Freewheel switch to the "freewheel" position and push or pull the Easy Travel Elite manually.
NOTE: The Freewheel mode can only be activated after the battery is in place and the power switch (Fig.9/1) is turned on. Doing otherwise will cause a fault situation indicated by rapid flashing of the Indicator light (Fig. 9/4). See section 4.2.
WARNING: The Freewheel switch should never be engaged on a slope.
CAUTION: The seat back must remain in the upright position.

They seem to assume removal is obvious, I would check any connections from battery to scooter are pulled out and that freewheel mode is not engaged.

What does free wheeling hubs do i have lots of noise comming from them while in two wheel drive

Free wheeling hubs are installed on the hubs to engage the axle and lock to the hubs making them turn. When you disengage the hubs (freewheel) the axle is not driving the hub hence you have effective 2 wheel drive I suggest you check wheel bearings or make sure that they are in fact disengaged properly

Rear sprocket turns but the wheel does not engage the bike is a 26" cruiser windwood model. looking for a exploded view of the rear axle

The freewheel has little arms that are spring-loaded and should engage teeth that would drive the wheel. This is exactly like a ratchet wrench. The problem is that those little arms (there are probably two of them) are either broken or they are too dirty to move. You can spray WD-40 into the groove that is about 1.5 inches in diameter. This may work to free those little arms. Or you should just buy a new freewheel. It is unlikely that you will be successful in disassembling the freewheel without special tools. Try this link for some information about freewheel removal and service. http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/categories/cassette-and-freewheel-service good luck, AL K

We have a elite traveller 4 wheel and have just washed it. We have left it to dry ans just turned it on to use it and it is letting out one continious bleep. Can you please let us know what to do?

Take it out of freewheel and see if it will work Next time just wipe it down with a damp cloth instead of washing Washing can cause the brake to rust on the motor case and thats not good also will rust hubs to axles and you won't be able to replace the wheels when they wear down Hope this helps

How do you get it to free wheel? when you have to move from place to place

That's tricky... some of the small TB will not free wheel and either have to be "drug" from place to place or start up and drive it. Some allow to freewheel by pulling the pins on the wheel hubs, pushing the wheels "in" and reinstalling the pin. This allows the hub to "freewheel" on the axle and the pin just keeps the wheel from falling off. Hope this helps.

Hello could you please advise on how to get the back wheel sprocket off. thanks tony

Depends on whether it is a freewheel or free hub.

For a freehub, you need a chain spanner -- basically a long lever with chain on it to hold the large sprocket while you use a second one to unscrew the smallest cog. Once that is off, all the other cogs slide off.

For a freewheel (usually only on older bikes), if you look inside the smallest cog, you'll see some sort of a recess. On Suntour it would be 2 recesses to accept a 2-pinned removal tool. For Shimano, it is a splined remover that fits around the axle. Insert the freewheel removal tool, use the Quick release to hold it in place, and a large wrench to unscrew the freewheel. In this case the entire freewheel comes off in one piece. Once off, you can use the method for the freehub to remove the outer cog and each successive inner cog. Often it is easier to put the removal tool in a vice and turn the wheel rather than use a wrench.

The rear wheel is in free spin in both directions,

If the problem is that the wheel can spin silently in either direction (without the normal ticking sound when it spins forward) then the problem is that the ratchet pawl(s) are either broken, or stuck. You might get lucky and can free it by spraying WD40 into the the freewheel. If that doesn't work you'll have to replace the freewheel.
