Question about Pentel Quick Dock Mechanical Pencils, 0.7mm Starter Set

Open Question

I have a Quickdock mechanical pencil 0.5. It got jammed with a cartridge so I put in my second cartridge. It was still broken. I THINK its jammed but I am not sure. What do I do. By jammed, I mean the led won't come out.

There could be a piece of a broken staple jammed in the stapling mechanism. I checked mine and there are two screws on the bottom that can be removed to expose the interior. The broken staple jam occurs often with mechanical staplers so the electrics probably have similar failures.

I have a Canon NP 6412F copier that appears to have a broken piece at the back of the toner cartridge. The cartridge is loose and it obstructs the closing of the machine. Is this something that can be...

yes can be fixed, it's mechanical obstruction against the cartridge way to be fit in position, probably something got broken whether in the cartridge itself or in the cartridge-occupying assembly & jammed into the cartridge way

I put in a new cartridge and it prited a few copies and then started to say it has the wrong cartridge. It is the right cartridge though.

Try removing the cartridge and polishing the cartridge contacts inside the printer with a clean, soft white pencil eraser of the type often found on mechanical pencils (other types leave too much junk and take too much off the contacts). Do not touch the contacts on the printer or the cartridge with your fingers.

If this doesn't work, suspect a failure inside the cartridge and ask the dealer for a warranty replacement.

MFC-640CW Switch on error message: "Unable to Init! - User Guide says this is a mechanical fault or jam - not a jam all clear. There is an empty Cyan ink cartridge message as well which is correct. Also...

If there is no jam it is generally a mechanical issue such as...

1. The planetary arm assembly not engaged correctly
2. Ink cartridge/purge switch harness not connected correctly
3. Purge cam switch broken
4. Gear(s) on maintenance unit broken
5. Paper feed motor broken
6. Main PCB defective

I find that if there was a paper jam, and the user pulled the paper out, option 4 is most likely. It is the smallest of cracks but ruins everything!

You will need to contact your local ASC for repair, find it here.

Cartridges jam

The electricial contacts from the cartridge are not making a connection. Start by cleaning all contacts with a pencil eraser . Carefully move the contacts , if necessary to make sure they are touching.

Try using a pencil eraser to clean the gold contacts on the back of the cartridge. If they get dirty or cruddy, the printer won't be able to 'read' the cartridge correctly.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Thanks, and good luck!

Lexmark 5400 series printer

Just today, our Lexmark 5400 began having paper jam issues. We'd try to print, and the paper would initially feed into the back and then wouldn't go any further. Then it gave printer jam error messages. After peering and poking into various areas of the unit I wound up disconnecting the printer from power, phone line, and USB connection, I took it to a better lit room.

Peering carefully into the back paper feed area, I discovered a pencil!! After excising the pencil, the printer worked fine. One of my precious children must have accidentally dropped a pencil into the back, or a pencil was resting on top of the unit and rolled into the back paper feed area.
Lesson learned, don't put pens or pencils on top of the printer.
