Question about Philips 9P6031C 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I need help finding a protective screen for a philips 9P6031C 60inch rear projection tv

My brother in law gave this tv to us. The problem is the protective screen in the front is covered w/candle wax & I cannot get it off. I tried calling philips & they were no help. They told me to call a dealer in my area & when I did they said they only come out to do repairs which would cost $159.00. I really would like a new PROTECTIVE SCREEN if anyone could help.

Thanks!

I may salvage the parts from my set if I cant fix my problem for a reasonable price. I have a projection screen for the 9P6031C, that I may sale if I cant fix the convergence on my set. The screen is in mint condition.

Colors are messed up and there are lines going across the screen

This is a common problem. Your TV has a convergence failure. You can get parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com .

You can see some more examples and find a fix using this link on Fixya http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

Tv picture shrinks

This is a common problem on certain models of Philips Magnavox TV sets. The most common symptom is the screen will shrink and expand over and over. After the TV heats up for a while the video will work like normal. After a few weeks or months your TV will eventually stop working and not have video. You can get complete parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

Broken protective screen

Instead of trying to find just the screen, I suggest buying an "as-is" complete TV. Then just take off the parts you need and scrap the rest... You may even get a better deal. I just looked on ebay and there were a couple listed. I imagine with everyone switching over to flat screens, you'll find a good deal.

Please help!

If the screen is clear that may work. but if its tinted you wont be able to see the image clearly without the tinted rough screen .But if its clear you should be ok, however the other screen will get broken super easy without the protective scren protecting it. New screens are exspsensive. The following link should have your screen.

No Sound & No Picture

I had the same issue. The screen would shrink and then expand over and over. After thrity minutes it would correct itself.
After a few months of doing this it just broke - no sound and no videe but the power light was still on.

I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.

To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com
