Could be a number of problems but most likey:

I would Not use the recovery disk but instead use a Systems install disk. A new hard drive needs to be formatted before it will accept data.

My HP pc keeps throwing the error 1005 at 31%, I did just install a cpu (used) so I am reformating with discs. Any good ideas?

Hi,

Error 1005 when using HP recovery DVDs
Before using the Recovery Disc, make sure the HDD is good. The Hard Disc Driver Test can performed either through [F2] Screen : Start up Diagnostics or through [F10] : Diagnostics . The [F2] / [F10] should be held while turning on the computer to get to the respective windows. In most cases, the reason for this error: 1005 is the Hard Driver failure.

You could also try to remove a memory module as sometimes Vista does not like a large amount of memory installed when using recovery CD/DVD's.

Error : 10-FC12-0570 when i try to reinstall with the cds

Error 10-FC12-0570 on Toshiba satellite This error message means that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive.
The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.

Solution:

Try copying the second disc using another system. If it's impossible: order for a new disc. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.

Try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem, is or is not, with the hard drive.

The best way would be to load the Windonws Vista discs, format the pc and reinstall.
(Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft). Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. That disc will not restore the OS: run diagnostics on the HDD; once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

Recover problem

This can happen if the Recovery Partition is corrupted or the Hard Drive is bad.
First, I recommend you to check the Hard Drive using the Hard Drive test utility available in the BIOS by following the steps below :
Start or restart the notebook and start tapping the F10 key.
This will get you the BIOS Setup window.
In this. go to the Diagnostics or Tools tab where you can find the Hard Drive test utility.
Select using the Up/Down arrow keys and press enter to start the test.
Make sure that you complete the Full test which may take around 80 minutes to complete.
If the Test result is Pass, we can come to a conclusion that the issue is with the Recovery Partition which is corrupted.
You need to purchase the Recovery Disks for your Notebook in this situaiton.
Contact HP Chat Support to get the exact link to order the Recovery Disks for your Notebook.
However, if the Test Result is Fail, you need to take backup of the data in the Notebook and replace the Hard Drive with a new one.
Hope this helps...

Getting a error #1005 when using HP system recovery disk on new hard drive

Error 1005 is an error with the disc rather your disc is scratched or just smudged it needs to be cleared.

There are a few ways to go about this.

You can manually clear it with some disc cleaner spray and a soft cloth that won't leave lint on the disc.

You can also go to a professional disc cleaner. I have a movie rental store in town that has a disc cleaner which removes a very very thin layer off the disc to remove the scratches. (Don't worry the data on the disc will not be erased in this process.) Warning if you attempt a professional disc cleaner many times the disc will not be readable. Try to keep the disc in a safe place where it can not be damaged.

You can also call the manufacturers and have then send you a new recovery disc or send you one in the first place to perform a full system recovery (Factory Recovery)

Lastly you will also get this error if you are trying to make a recovery disc and did not user a (plus) DVD+R disc.

Now I am new to this error as well but I cleaned my disc manually and tried again after searching a solution and coming here. After cleaning my disc I have successfully recovered my computer to it's factory state.

Words of advice:
Get a good Virus-protection (I use Kaspersky virus protection it is updated daily and is a very good system)
Do a system defragment monthly you can set this up by using the scheduled task app in Windows
Complete a Desktop Clean up monthly
Make sure that you organize things in folders so you know where they are. The search feature in Windows in a powerful tool but can be lethal if you delete something needed by the system by accident.
Watch out for bad sites. Firefox will tell you if you are in a really bad site. Also Internet Explorer 8 is an awesome tool to.
Make sure you update, update, update your windows OS Computer.
Try to stay up-to-date on all new software for your virus protection

Guys let me reiterate on one thing watch out for bad sites if you haven't been there before and your not sure if you trust the site don't go. Myspace layout sites are the main source of where I obtain alot of the spyware and virus that infection my system.

Error Loading Operating System

Do you still have the original recovery disc for the PC? If so, put that into the disc drive then boot the computer. It can help you either save the installed operating system or create a new one if there is a serious problem.

This could also be due to a hard disk drive failure, in which case you'd be needing to get a new hard disk. Most of the time however, just a file allocation table messes up during a power down, or some other random problem happened and just caused a simple error on the drive. I'd definitely find that recovery disc. If nothing else, you can use google to search for recovery boot disks that you can download and burn to a CD using a different computer. They can help as well.
