Question about Kodak Cameras

1 Answer

Put Kodak DX6440 digitial camera in dock, press the transfer button, hear a 2 tone beep that goes from low to higher pitch. Am on a new Windows 7 computer, just downloaded the most recent version of EasyShare. This used to work fine on my old XP computer.

I suspect the problem isn't with EasyShare, but with Windows 7. This camera came out in 2003, and would not demand an updated driver from Kodac, like so many products these days. One has the choice of keeping their older computer hooked up to use with the camera, or purchasing a newer unit.
Wish there was better news.

Battery will not charge

The dock can only charge KODAK rechargeble batteries.

1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.

Kodak Easyshare series 3 docking station won't download photos

No guarantee, but try these easy steps before you do anything else. Unplug both ends of the cable that connects the dock to the computer, wait a few seconds then plug them back in and try the transfer again. If that doesn't help, uninstall the EasyShare software, then go to Kodak.com and download/install the latest software.

Downloading from my camera through my port

A friend of mine was having the same problem and come to find out, she was going onto the Kodak website to transfer the pictures. I told her that she doesn't have to do that, just press the button from the dock (sometimes you have to hold it down for a few seconds) and a box opens up in the right hand corner on your computer screen, click transfer all. sometimes I have to play with it a few times for it to go. I have had the DX6440 for almost 5 years and have had good luck with it. As a matter of fact, I love it. I recently bought an Olympus E-Volt 500 and I like my little Kodak better, especially for close ups. I hope maybe this solution will help, I know it did help my friend. She was going crazy and that's all it was. Now my Olympus, I have to transfer from the site. Hope this helps!

No power

Not sure if this is related, but our's won't start-up either, and it seems to indicate that the batteries are weak/dead prematurely. There must be some sort of power level controller that could be the root problem. Our experts can add some useful content to both these threads....

The simple solution is put the dock away someplace and use the card reader - It seems to have a connectivity fault.

Cant transfer my photos to pc anymore!?!

It maybe that the associated programme you use is not kicking in when the camera is connected ready for downloading. Disconnect your camera dock and re-install the software or driver CD you got with the camera and see if it automatically starts next time you connect. If you can't put your hands on the cd go to this site for software. http://wwwuk.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn026079.jhtml?pq-path=4509 Hope it's cured

Kodak DX6440 won't power up using batteries

There's a chance that the drop is irrelevant to your problem. You could try using a small eraser to clean the battery contacts down in the chamber (make sure to dump out any eraser particles) and try a new CRV-3 battery, which because of it's slightly longer body produces a little more pressure on the contacts. If that doesn't work to improve things then your cam might need a repair, your call there. Good luck

Pictures not transferred to the computer

The cause and solution may include one of the following: The AC adapter or USB cable is not securely connected. Check the connections, and then try transferring pictures again. Kodak EasyShare software is not installed. Install the software. There are too many programs running on the computer. Close all software programs and try transferring pictures again. The camera was removed from the dock during picture transfer. Replace the camera on the dock, and press the Transfer button. The Transfer button was not pressed. Press the Transfer button.
