Have great picture no sound. The buttons turn volume up and down but I can not get sound

If you are using HDMI cable make sure it can transmit audio as well, as some cables don't do this I believe. Other wise, replace it.

I'M TRYING TO HOOK UP MY INSIGNIA 42'' 1080P FLAT-PANEL LCD HDTV TO OUR DVD PLAYER USING THE COMPONENTS (RED, BLUE, GREEN, RED & WHITE CABLES) PROVIDED AND THE PICTURE IS IN BLACK & WHITE....

The three picture cords (red/blue/green) often are a little larger around than the sound cords (red/white). If they are they same size, they are often grouped separate by picture and sound. Double check to verify if you have the "red" cords correct. Good luck.

I had this problem myself. What I found was somehow the output resolution on the PS3 was changed to 480. If you change that back to 1080 it should work.

I have sound but no picture. The screen is black

can you see any any menus or the volume bar or channel indicator?
Make sure all your audio and video cables are hooked up correctly to inputs on the TV and to the same set of hookups. For example all of the VCR cables hooked into video 1 and all of the DVD cables in video 2.
Also check that you haven't hooked up the video to the tv's output. Some sets output audio and/or video for external devices such as recording setups or home theater sound systems.

Sound but no picture

Hook up the composite cables that come with the unit. Turn the TV on to the correct input. Turn the PS3 on using the power button on the unit. When you press the button continue holding the button until you hear a second beep....about five seconds. That should set the PS3 back to the factory output. If that corrects the problem you can set the PS3 to use whichever cable you want via the XMB.

No sound on play back using camcorder on technika tv

Looks like you are using Component cables. There are five cables. The first three cables are Green,Blue and Red. These are the ones that are molded next to each other and are the Video signal cables. The other two cables are Red and White and they are the audio cables.
First to correctly hook up these cables you need to Connect (Match) Color for Color. (Green to Green, Blue to Blue, and Red to Red. To tell if you have correctly connected the Video cables is to look at the screen. If the picture looks ok (Normal with no colors missing then you have connected the video cables correctly). If you see a missing color meaning red, then switch the Red cables. The picture should be ok now. The remaining two cables are the Red and White cables. The "Red cable" is for the "Right" audio input and the "White" cable is for the "Left" audio Input". If all is connected correctly then you should have a good picture and Left and Right audio.

No picture, just sound, can still see cable directory

Sounds to me like you may not have service on your cable box. I worked for a large cable provider for years and that was generally either a faulty box or the box just needed a "signal" sent to it. Try to bypass the box complety and just hook your service directly into your TV. You may need to go into you TV's menu, switch it to the cable setting and then auto search, but most likely the TV is new enought ath you should be able to get a picture. We do know that it is not a problem with the TV since you are able to view other devices on the TV. If you get a picture then we have narrowed it down to the bow. Although this may not mean that the box is bad. First let's ensure that if is installed correctly and that the input jack is the cable from the wall and that the output runs to the TV. Again you have sound so i know this seems dumb but so can be cable installers. :) Since we know all of that is correct and you still have sound but no picture, I'm going to say that you most likely have a motorola box and on the front of it there is a small button that has a/b next to it. (most commonly found on motorola box but not limited to). If that button does exist on this box i'm almost certain that will correct your problem. If not you have a faulty box and should ask you cable provider to replace it.

On some av cables for the Xbox 360 there is a switch on the cable itself where it plugs into the Xbox that must be in the correct position. I hope this helps you.
