Question about HP Pavilion dv6775us Notebook

1 Answer

The dv6775us Entertainment laptop was working. About 5 minutes after a shutdown, it wouldn't turn on. The light at the external power port and the charge indicator light in the front left corner come on when the external power cord is attached. Pressing the power switch does nothing. I've tried removing the external power, battery, memory, and hard drive and pressing the power switch for 15 seconds, then reinstalling one or more of them in various combinations, all to no avail. Also, I don't know how to get the case open.

Hello, If it a hard shutdown that you experienced, then, i should beleive that it is from the board. what i mean is that you have to change the processor of your laptop, then it will come back alive. But if it does not come back, you should know that the board has to be changed enterly.

I have an Hp Pavilion ZE4125 that shuts off within sometimes a few seconds to a few minutes . What would cause that

The yellow light is simply an indicator that the power cable is attached and the battery is charging. As far as the shutting off is concerned, with laptops, the biggest cause of unexpected shutdown is heat....meaning that the CPU exceeds its heat ceiling. The shutdown is automatic to save the processor. There are two main causes. The first is a cooling fan failure. Two check this, turn the laptop on with it turned upside down and observe the fan(s) thru the intake slots. If they do not operate, you will need to use an external cooler or get them repaired. If they work, heat could still be the problem if the cooling fins on the CPU heatsink clogged. Many people hold the laptop in their lap or lay in on a lint-filled surface such as a bedspread or a dusty surface such as a floor. This eventually causes the CPU heatsink fins to clog, blocking the fan's airflow and resulting in overheating. You can try to blow canned air into the exhaust port to break up the dust, but most likely you will need to have the unit serviced to clean out the crud. The laptop must be dismantled to access the fan/heatsink assembly. If you are not very familiar with this process, do not attempt it yourself!

Never light up on screen when turn it on

On any Panasonic Toughbook, if the LCD does not "Light-Up", I would try the following:

Step 1: Make sure the Toughbook is Powered Off.
Step 2: Hook-up and external LCD Monitor to the VGA Port.
(On the CF51 with the ports facing you, the VGA Port is the third connector "color blue" from the right hand side).
Step 3: Power On the external LCD Monitor.
Step 4: Power on the Toughbook.

If the external monitor works then purchase a second hand external monitor. A used 17" LCD monitor should cost $20 or less and the VGA cable (used) should cost $5 or less.

This also means that your LCD may be burnt out. If this was a CF53 or even a CF52 then it is worthwhile to repair. The CF51 in my opinion is too old but at least you can continue to use it with an external monitor hooked-up.

That is it. Good Luck and Best Regards from:

My computer was working fie. i closed it for a second and when i opened it again the screen was black. the back light still worked but the screen was blank

Try testing it out through your external ports like the vga, svideo (hdmi if you have one) port to a external monitor, or a tv and see if you get anything there. If you are able to get display to a tv, or external monitor through your external port, then you might have a issue with your screen inverter, or loose connection somehwere between your screen and your laptop base. Secondly if you can't get a display to a tv or external monitor using the external ports, or you get the same display like your screen, then your vga chipset is screwed, and you motherboard will need replacement since the vga chipset is solder onto the motherboard. At this point you can either try to replace the motherboard, (which is going to cost you almost or more then a brand new laptop) or decide to go ahead and get a new laptop.

My HP Pavilion Entertainment PC will not turn on. If I hold the power button, the 3 lcd's blink but nothing else happens. I have tried a different charger and that didn't work either.

You most likely have a motherboard issue. Try this, remove the battery, hold the power button in for 30 seconds, and try to power up. If that doesn't work, you need to bring it to your local repair shop

My mouse doesnt get detected on my system. please help

Instructions
  1. 1

    Turn off your computer.

  2. 2

Unplug the power supply, remove your laptop batter, and wait at least 30 minutes before returning the battery and power chord to the laptop. As explained by Trouble Fixers, a cache of data from your USB device is stored on the motherboard. This cache is not completely erased until the motherboard fully discharges following power-down. Once the cache is cleared, most USB errors will be fixed.

  3. 3

    Turn on your laptop computer.

  4. 4

Try to use the malfunctioning USB port. In most cases, simply turning off and unplugging the laptop will help remedy the problem. If a problem persists, continue with Step 5.

  5. 5

    Click on the "Start Menu."

  6. 6

Click to open the "Control Panel."

  7. 7

    Click on "System and Maintenance."

  8. 8

Click on the "Device Manager." A new window will open that lists all hardware and external devices currently installed on your laptop computer.

  9. 9

Scroll the list until you notice the heading "USB Root Hub." Click on this option.

  10. 10

Select the USB port that reads "Unknown Device." All other, functioning USB ports should say "unused port" or list a specific external USB device.

  11. 11

Right-click on the Unknown Device port and then select "Update Driver." According to the tech-help website, Amit Bhawani, this will trigger an automatic update of the USB drivers. If no new drivers are found, the old driver will also refresh and repair. In many cases, a malfunctioning port is simply caused by outdated driver software. With the latest drivers, your port can be used with current USB devices without any problems. If problems do reoccur, then the port may be physically damaged and you'll need to take the laptop computer to a computer repair technician to get a new USB port installed

It has something to do with the power supply of your unit or the motherboard itself, especially when you isolate the battery and plug only the power cable and i wont turn on. In this case, you can reseat the power supply by removing the cables and battery when the unit is off, remove the screws below it, remove the hard drive, remove the optical drive then remove the power supply and reseat it. Then perform the steps in descending order (insert optical, hard drive, screws, battery, cables). Turn it on and observe if there are lights lit on the keyboard. If you don't know how to do this or if symptom persists, consult HP tech support for repair of your laptop..

Display not working for HP pavilion dv2000

Try to attach your computer to an external monitor to see if it is a screen issue or a motherboard issue. If the computer does not pick up on the external right away, try to toggle it by holding down the Fn key and striking F4. If you get a picture on the external, then you have only lost the screen and the motherboard shouyld be fine.

Screen comes on and after about 5 min. it goes off the computer is still on.

To narrow down the problem area, connect the laptop to an external monitor, if everything works properly, then you have a bad screen. If it does the same, then you have a failing motherboard component that is causing the shutdown.
