Question about Lexmark X5650 All-in-One InkJet Printer

I just replace the color and black ink cartridges but my computer does not reconize the new cartridges. It keep saying I need to replace ink. Help????

Make sure you are using the correct cartridges for your printer model. Probably just needs to be cleaned. Grab a damp paper towel and gently wipe the cartridge nozzles to clean it from dirts and clogs. Reinsert and make sure they're properly secured.

Did you use generic cartridges? either that or they might be bad too, take them back and get them replaced.

    No, these are not generic. They are Lexmark cartridges. They came in a combo pack.

    they could be just bad or maybe old to where the printer thinks they need replaced.

If the machine is just using magenta, yellow and cyan to make black then you get brown, not black, (that why you have a black image unit, because YMC will not make black, color system issue. unless the machine is using yellow,magenta, cyan, then black. Are you using 3rd party toner or OEM cartridges? Did you replace the cartridge before it was required?

I have a 926 series dell printer...changed color cartridge and my computer will not reconize it..still says I am out of ink.


Most likely the new cartridge is defective. Most cartridges contain chips and these are occasionally bad. See if the retailer will exchange it for you.

Can i print using black ink when im out of color ink it wont let me even though ive changed the settings to print colors as black and white


That's the way Kodak works
It won't allow yu to do anything if any of the lights are flashing or there is a error message

Get your color ink cartridge replaced by Kodak.
Just say its a new color ink cartridge and printer is saying its empty!!

Did you replace the ink cartridge with a new one, or did you refill an old one.

Some printers have a memory and can tell which ink cartridge is in them. This prevents them from easily being fooled into printing with refilled cartridges.

Another option is that you changed the ink cartridge without following the specific guidelines for replacement e.g. To replace the ink cartridge, select replace ink cartridge from the main menu, then open the printer panel when the light flashes X number of times.

You might also try unplugging the printer for a couple of minutes the reset it.

Replaced black ink cartridge and printer keeps asking to replace


The message that persists in saying to "replace black cartridge" could be due to a defective cartridge chip. The chip maintains counts and tells the printer when a new cartridge is installed. If you cartridge is remanufactured, they may have neglected to install a new chip.

Regarding the new fuser not working, I'll have to get back to you on that.

I just installed a new black ink. The error message keeps on saying wrong color cartridge installed. I replaced with the correct one for my officejet v40. Black 15.


did you try changing the color cartridge too? I had problems with ink cartridges that were not HP cartridges.( not made by HP but some other co.)

Not printing after color cartridge ran out - new black cartridge installed.


Yes, this printer has fixed printheads and must have ink in each color to prevent damage to the printheads. Even when printing black only each color is spit in the servicing area to keep the printhead unclogged.

Ink cartridge light keeps blinking


you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.
