If you don't have a switch on either the left or right side or in front, then look for a button with an F and a little tower with sound waves around the top of it. You will have to hold down the key with Fn usually found on the bottom left corner of the keyboard and then hit the F key with the tower emblem on it and release both. This should enable your wireless adapter. You will know it is enabled because it will alert you to wireless connections available.

Connecting your Acer laptop to your home wireless network is fairly simple.
Before you begin you need to know the SSID broadcast name (Wi-Fi) network name and security passphrase (Wi-Fi network password).

Move the Wi-Fi switch to the "On" position.
Not all models have this switch.

Open the Windows Start menu and select "Connect To."
A list of available connections will appear.

Select "All" from the drop-down menu to view all available networks and connections within range.

Select the desired network and click "Connect."
Enter the security passphrase if prompted and click "Connect" again to join the network and gain wireless Internet access.

Unable to connect laptop to internet

Do you have wireless in the house? If not that's your problem.

If you look at the bottom right near the time you will see a little staircase that represents the wireless. if you click on it and select the option to Connect to A Network a window will open up showing you all the wireless networks within range. You want to select your network (the one in your house) and click Connect. If it requires a password or key, then provide it. That's all there is to it.

If you don't see the staircase at the bottom right near the time, more than likely you don't have the wireless turned on. Look on both sides of the laptop and at the front for a switch that controls the wireless.

Where is the wireless switch on the dell vostro 200

Unlike notebook computers, most desktops don't come with wireless networking built in. I can't find any mention on Dell's site that the Vostro 200 has wireless capability, so this computer doesn't have a wireless switch. To use your desktop computer on a wireless network, you'll need to install a wireless adapter. USB adapters are very easy to use since you just have to plug them in. They're not expensive and you can easily find them at retail stores and online.

I have an acer aspire one laptop that will not connect to internet thru wireless connection. System shows that wireless connection strength is excellent but internet explorer cannot display webpage. ...

1.- Try to find the wireless card switch (or button). Look the wireless led indicator, must be on.
You should surf if the led is on.

2.- If not works, go to device manager and look to your wireless device and turn the switch on and
off again. Look if the device is accepted without any sign. If the device get any sign then you
have problem with your wireless driver. If no sign. Open My Computer and then open networks
or my network places, and try to access to any other computer you have.

3.- If the device is ok in device manager and the led indicator is on and you can access other
computer thru network places, then open Internet explorer, go to tools, then go to internet
options, then go to connections and there click on Lan settings. In the proxy section uncheck
the box. Restart your Internet Explorer and it must surf now.

Good Luck and remember to rate my answer.

Get connection to internet

Connections to the internet can be tricky. It depends on how you connect- modem, lan,or wireless. If wireless, is it at home, or at a hot spot. If you are connecting at home, try shutting off your wireless switch on your laptop.(if you can), then shut off (unplug) your router, plug it back in, and then plug in the lan (ethernet) cord, and reboot. It should find your connection. You might also go to control panel, then to internet options, then to connections. See if there are any listings in the box. You might have to change things if there is one that says "use this connection first" or something like that, if you are trying to connect otherwise. Then go to lan settings, and uncheck "automatically detect settings". For a modem you need to make sure the modem is installed in devices (in control panel) and then make sure the software, from your internet provider, which will tell your laptop which number and how to connect, is installed. If you are using a wireless connection, do as instructed above and uncheck "automatically detect settings." and make sure your wireless switch is on. Occasionally there are conflicting connections, or possibly unsecure wireless connections "remembered" in your system that may have changed. Right click on your wireless icon on bottom right, then network and sharing center, then manage connections. You may want to delete the ones you don't recognize, or the ones you don't use anymore, as you can always connect again if you want to. If you are having trouble connecting to a particular connection, remove it from that list and then try connecting again. I know a lot of this sounds difficult, but like I said, connecting to theInternet can be tricky.

My laptop finds wireless router but will not connect to internet

Hi there. You may need to connect to the wireless network manually. What is the operating system running on your computer? If XP, you may follow these. (This is also applicable in other operating system, it may just vary a little) Right click the monitor icon showing on the system tray near the clock. Point the mouse in the icon and it will display the name if it is wireless network connection or network connection. Right click the icon and look for view available wireless network. If it is not showing, look for network connection. Right click and select "open network connection". Right click wireless network connection and select "view available wireless network" . Look for the wireless network you're trying to access or have connection.Highlight and click connect. If encrypted, you need to supply the pass key or security key twice and hit connect. It should allow you now to go online wirelessly. Please remember these, you should be able to go online wired. Make sure that there are other wireless computer connected to the wireless network you're connecting with and can go online wirelessly.

Hope this help :)
