please elaborate. Be as detailed and specific as possible to the exact nature of the print quality defect and the noise. Where is the noise coming from?.. ( ie top left corner near the toner cartridge, or right center) What color or colors are effected. Thanks,

Sounds like it might be the developer frame on its last leg. Usually about 300$ to have it fixed. We had several of these that needed replacing (out of warranty of course) and depending on the total page count would decide weather we would fix it or junk it.

How can I ignore the low toner error message and print black on a Dell 5100cn?

i believe that if you remove the color toner cartridges, it will stop asking and only print black. you may also be able to specify in the print menu settings to disable the color printing

Printing noises - no ink transferring

Sounds like you may need to replace the developer drive assembly. This is the motor and gear assy that drive the color developers. it is located on the right side middle, 3 screws hold it in place. be careful when replacing to not over tightened screws.

When you say the gears are not messing, what exactly do you mean.

Do you actually hear gears grinding, or are you just having an issue with magenta not printing properly.

if you hear grinding, where is the noise coming from? at the top right corner by the toner, or on the right side in the middle?

In either case, if you actually hear a grinding noise, this would require replacement parts to repair as these are not consumable user replaceable items.
