Question about Philips 42PF9630A 42 in. Plasma Television

3 Answers

No picture, no sound.

Power comes on but no picture. You can hear clicking when pressing the power button.

On back of set, when looking through cooling slots you can see some green LEDs...four, I think. One blinks constantly, and the other three are on steady.

I love this TV and I really would like to fix it. HELP!

My JVC TV wont turn on, the blue LD at the front of the TV comes on, when i press the power button the blue LED goes off and i hear a click on the TV but it wont turn on.

Look at the power supply board, look for capacitors ( look like black or brown cans) that have their silver tops bulging. There is a cross on the top designed to open in a failure so the capacitor doesn't pop. Even if the top is still closed, the slightest bulge indicates a failure. Unsolder all bulging capacitors and replace with same spec. For instance, in a bad Samsung there are 4 1000mf 25v 105C rated caps that always go bad, same symptoms. The caps are about $3-4/pc in USA.

The power light blinks 7 times, pauses, then blinks 3 times. have sound but no picture.

Please disconnect the set from AC power for 2 minutes, then upon plugging back in, press and hold the power button for 8 seconds to try and force a reset.
If the TV still does not power up, then the 7 blink code would indicate that there is a short inside the set stopping it from fully powering up.
It is most probable that there is a failure on the power supply board inside the TV. Commonly the capacitors on this board will receive a surge and then fail. They can sometimes be visually verified by removing the rear of the set and inspecting them for bulges or leaking fluid at the top or the base of the caps. This is the most common mode of failure for these sets.
The capacitors are located on the power board inside the set, where the AC cord plugs into and can be replaced by a Tech for no more than $200 parts and labor.
Unfortunately there is no sequence of buttons or reset you can perform to get the set working again. Do you have any experience testing live voltages, or soldering on electronic equipment? If not, take it to an electronic repair shop.

I have a Toshiba 47hl167 and when I plug it in and hit the power button the green light comes on but no picture?

The real issue is do you have sound or not?

You can unplug the set and or a box both if connected for several minutes and then power back to see if when they reboot set works or not.

I have a 46" Samsung LCD tv that won't turn on. When I press the power button you can hear the chime sound it usually makes and you can hear the relay click and the screen flashes quickly then goes bl

sounds like you have a back light problem. To verify this, turn on the set, dim the lights in the room, and shine a bright flash light on the screen. If you see the faint picture on the screen, you have a back light problem. You could either have a shorted inverter that is pulling down the 24vdc line, a blown CCFL back lamp, a high voltage short (arcing) from one of the inverter outputs, or a faulty 24vdc power supply

NO PICTURE, NO SOUND On My Plasma TV.

Should have been 3300 UF 10V caps that were bad? Shouls have been replaced with 3300UF 18V. 50V is huge. If it was replaced with a 50 the polarity may be wrong or the cap it too big to be seated property. Sometimes the caps just dry out and even a normal looking one will be the culprit of no OSD. Are you getting an LED fault code blinking? That should be a red led. Do you hear the relay clicking.? When you replaced the caps did you charge them? Just plugging in the set without trying to power it on for about 20-30 mins. I may be able to help you
