Time to shine a light into the card slot and check the pins. You may have a bent or missing one

I have an early 2004 D70 and am receiving random digital display errors of FEE, CHG, FOR. If I play with removing and reinstalling the battery or memory card they will usually clear but I cannot figure...

Okay the FEE is telling me that you haven't locked your lens in at F22. Lock the lens should be an aperture ring turn it to the smallest aperture and there is a little lock on the side of the lens that will hold it in that position. The camera then looks after the rest. If this is allowed to float then the camera is getting a faults input from the lens. The CHG is a card error, possible you have been deleting images from the card and not formatting the card the card needs to be formatted to the camera.
As a rule of thumb format the memory card in the camera after each time you download pictures to the computer. This cleans the memory card and allows proper communications between memory card and camera. Okay you'll love this one the "FOR" error is a known problem with Nikon D70 and can be fixed by updating your camera firmware on Nikon's site that Otta help. cheers have fun

Nikon d70 keeps popping up with "CHA". Wich means

You could try formatting in on PC by right clicking the card's icon in My Computer to bring up the options, then format it on the camera as well

My nikon d70 says that file does not contain image data

Hi,
If the memory card came from a different camera and inserted into the Nikon D70, the error message will appear. Just format the memory card with the D70 and the error should disappear.
Hope this helps.

My NIKON D70 has trouble with flash cards larger than 2 G.

The D70 has known issues with certain cards / capacities. Nikon has identified the cards and capacities that are guaranteed to work with the D70 specifically, on their page dedicated to this info linked below:

http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9601

It seems that only Lexar and Microdrive cards that are 4Gb are supported (some with significant limitations) and no card greater than 4Gb is supported at all, regardless of manufacturer.

I have a Nikon D50 with an error message "CHA"

This error indicates the following:
This card cannot be used (CHR) blinks.
Problem(s)
Error accessing memory card
Unable to create a new folder (on card)
Card has not been formatted for use on D70

Try another card
Format the card using your D70 (all images will be erased)
Check the card for visible damage or poor contacts.

You may have inserted a memory card that was been used in a different camera or the formatting process did not complete successfully.
I hope this helps.

Digital Nikon D70S - memory card removed while turned on.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

Nikon > D70

See page 200:

Try resetting the camera in this way first to see if it clears the problem.

The -E- means that the camera cannot detect that a memory card is present see page 199.

Check that the card is properly inserted (page 20) and as a last resort try formatting it (you will lose any pictures on it):

Nikon D70, displaying error code 'CHA' when memory card inserted. Unable to format or use memory card. Have tried new memory card, still same problem.

CHA errors indicate a communication issue with the CF card. Your card could be going bad, you could have a broken pin, or any number of other problems.

I'm running into this same problem now. If anyone has a good step-by-step to troubleshoot which of the dozen things this error could be, I'd appreciate it.

For myself, I'm planning to start by trying a new CF card.

Nikon

The cards may have been corrupted in some way. Have you tried them in another camera or a card reader? If you have a reader, you might want to try formatting one of them from your computer.
