The Headphone jack is typcially Green.. Pink is the mic jack and is a line in.

They are both mini rca jacks.. so size wise they are identical.. a common problem so don't feel bad about getting them mixed up.

Typically the jacks will have little symbols next to them.. but since they are pressed into the plastic case.. hard to see.. use a flashlight.. and you will probably see them.

Best of luck

    No Problem..
Yes.. The Microphone is a LINE IN device.. as in Audio Source IN.

You can go into control panel/sounds/recording and check the settings.. or depending on the sound card you can check the input levels and test the mic using the sound card control panel.

Hope this helps.. thanks for the quick correction.. let us know if you are able to get it working in the fashion you wish.

    Best of luck!

How do I hook to dell

Basically, these speakers come with universal PL plugs, which means, you can connect them to any music source that has a headphones jack (just like an iPod, iPhone, walkman, discern etc...) you should have same phone jack in your DELL - use the green plug to the OUT jack (should have a little marking of an arrow out or little icon of headphones) the pink plug is for microphone.

Where is the sound in./out for hooking up external speakers

Hi,
Look at the front and sides of the laptop for the headphone and microphone jack ports.
Some of them are coloured Pink for the microphone and green for headphone (audio out). some of them are also black.

Good luck.

Headphones w/ built-in microphone. Can both work with one jack?

the simple answer is No. The long answer is your laptop/computers headphone output and mic input are completely separate on the sound card. Meaning there are no tie to the audio in on the heaphone lines, and vise versa on the mic/line in. Sorry to disappoint.

Speakers don't turn back on after removing the heaphones

The way you described convinced me that your audio driver is OK, but the sound can be heard through the headphone only. If this is the case then you have a mechanical failure (metal fatigue) on the head phone jack assembly.
I consists of two DPDT switches ganged together in a small housing with have 3mm jack on it. The leaf spring contacts failed to make after the headphone plug is detached. Only skilled technician can remove it from the PCB then sold an new one in.

My mic is not working on my laotop, vista home premium

you do not need to uninstall any driver..i had the same problem and i just bought a new headset wid a mic so here's what probably your problem is...especially those who can't seem to uninstall their driver..
1. right click on the speaker icon and go to recording devices 2. select any of the microphones in the list 3. click on properties 4. go to the levels tab 5. unmute your microphone and voila..microphone works :)
