I changed wires and coils and still have issues with the car studdering when it gets warm. im thinking that it is the ignition module not sure yet

Could even be something as small as a faulty set of spark plugs

Have the charging system checked to make sure you are getting 14.25 volts when idle and everything on,blower on high and headlights on .if you are not getting at least 13.60 then replace the alternator,and or out put cable from alternator

Loss of power, studdering at high rpms when at temp.


Sound's like it break down due to no oil or water circulate
the engine. Or wrong spark plug gap. So it increase too much heat.

-Try this:
1. Flush the engine. Flush the coolant.
2. Check spark plug gap (Adjust to correct gap)
3. Check oil pressure. If it's low then new oil pump is need.

Takes a couple minutes to start car... Starts after .... Warms up and then starts to studder and wants to die.... But wont puke all the way ... Im thinking its the ignition module


Looks like a typical fuel pump problem. If the pump is defective, it will take time to build the necesarry pressure in the fuel rail for starting the engine and once it starts, if you floor the accelerator, it will either not respond or will hesitate. I recommend measuring the fuel rail pressure. If it is less than specified, which is 41-47 psi, then replace it.

Have a 2000 buick park ave. after changing plugs and wires check engine light still on. computer code says misfiring number 5. What part needs changing? Im thinking the coil?


Yes start with the coil pak. There are three located on the front of the engine on the pass side, you probably know this. They are marked as to which cylinder each wire goes to, disconnect the wire for #5 cylinder, and if the engine misfire does NOT change, it is more than likely that Coil Pak. Replace it, and use dilectric grease on the two contacts when reinstalling it. Now, I have stumbled on this issue many times and if that does not cure the issue (I think it will), the coil module below the coil pack is probably bad...To remove this module, remove the coil paks, the electrical connector in front (has bolt holding it in) and I remember one bolt holding the module to the aluminum bracket.

Again, to be sure you can switch coil paks around to make sure it is a coil pak. When you switch the bad with a good, the misfire will follow the coil pak, if it does not it is the module.]

I have a 1987 ford bronco and will not start replaced the pick up coil and ignition module and coil and still not getting spark to start now I am stumped can some one please help?


check the wires to the module,im not too sure what color wire to check,its been 5 years since i worked on that issue on a ford truck,but i think its a white wire with a black stripe-basically power from the key-also check the fusible links by the starter solenoid on the inside fender

i had a 1975 f-100 v8 i changed coil and wires. cooked module. speed shop told me make sure i remove battery cables from battery first. hope that will help best i could throw your way
