Question about Troy-Bilt Garden

Open Question

I Have a Troy built Bronco tiller. Its ten years old and has been in a professional shop several times for maintenance and has given me no problems. However, this spring it has been difficult to start and gives me quite a lot of kick-back (like the old Model A Fords did on crank) . This has not happened before. What should I look for?

SOURCE: changing the drive belt

remove plastic belt cover
remove the guard,belt/pulley
work in the right side first:
remove the rigth-side wheel
remove the screws of the bumper
remove 2 screws on bracket/transmission assembly
pull the bracket
install the new belt
reinstall the right side screws and wheel

do the same in the left side
Ps: remove the belt guide, and reverse return spring

SOURCE: how to take motor off frame troy built tiller

The easiest way is to first remove the drive belt , then on both sides you will see two bolts with locking nuts on them where the engagement lever raises the motor to tighten the belt. Back these bolts out , then have someone hold the motor while you work the rod out on each side that the motor slides up and down on. Oh if you have a bumper there are two bolts in the top of each one holding the bumper on to take out first. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Changing Drive belt On Troy Built Tiller

You have to remove the engine (4 bolts, no big problem), then remove the bolt in the center of the pulleys, then remove the pulleys. Slip the belt(s) (2 if you have the Super Bronco model) onto the pulleys, re-attach the pulleys with the bolt, re-mount the engine, and you're home free.

You should ask the people you bought it from, but if you can't find them you can look around on the 'net to find other people with the same machine.

Motor rev up and down. I tried cleaning carburator. Results are still the same. I have only used it three times. It is 2 years old. I Thought Troy Built had a good reputation for quality and dependability.

My troy bilt horse has serial number 544253, can anyone tell me what the model number is and what year it was built? Thanks

if you have a B&S engine look at the frist two numbers on the code. thats the year of the engine and more likelyof your unit, As long as the motor has'nt been replaced. I'll checked on your serial number did'nt find a model. If this is an old troy built I'll have to call tech support. also I need to know what engine 4, 4.5, 6, 7, 8, hr power, and the name of the teller. MTD now owens troy built.

BELT PLACMENT ON TROY BUILT TILLER MODEL 21A-643B711 SUPER BRONCO CRT

I am assuming your belt broke and you cannot find the replacement.
I had to go to an old timer that owns his independent business and he was able to find a much better belt than the one that came on the tiller. The Belt # is 1916657 and it is 25.5 inches long and 1/2 inches wide. It also has a kevelar core that will stand up to the constant gearing up and down.

Lowes was NO HELP AT ALL!!!!

Hope this at leasst get;s you in the right direction
