How do I get to the filter and remove it?What about the vibration and the smell?

    ?

Could not find a filter. Do not think I have a bad bearing. Machine is just loud on fast spin. Qwner's manual says it is normal.

thanks. My wife said it vibrates. i was taking her word for it. Sorry for the confusion. thanks.

John cross told me how to find filtwer. I liked your vinegar thing. Ran it through. could not find a filter, but with the Englishman's directions found what looked like aflapper valve that was filthy. Hoses at bottom of drum had filty water and black crud in them. Might be the dirt proble. ran the vinegar through. Running a loaad of clothes for a final test. I used a combo of your and Cross's suggestions. if I am satisfied, who decides who gets paid?

Thank you. on second thought, I do need to check the bearings, but I am going to call a repairman for that.

Hi, the tremendous vibration means you have a faulty bearing which needs to be replace or else it would affect and damage the transmission...

Your washer might be very dirt. If you don't clean it regularly, lime deposits can form in the washer and dirt can collect in the washer filter. The dark spots on your clothes could be caused by a dirt washer not properly filtered by the washer filter. Check your washer's filter and remove collected dirt. You can also try running an empty hot water cycle and add a cup of white vinegar. This will effectively remove detergent residues in your washing machine.

My Kenmore he front load washer stopped at the rinse and spin cycle. I don't know the model but it only a few years old. It made a load noise before stopping. I attempted to get it going again wit

Kenmore front loader. stopped at rinse. First ck to see if you washer works at different settings if so its very possible its your timmer or what called the wig wag or solonoid this switches the machine to spin & rinse. A basic service call should resolve your problem.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
3 things- balance, marks and smells, the latter 2 could be caused by the same thing.
Balance
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.
(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.)
Marks and smells
I'm going to suggest one thing for both of these- check and, if necessary, clean the filter.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem, good luck and please score these accordingly ;-0)

Vibration

With the age of the machine, although Speed Queen's are built like a tank, the suspension systems are one of the most worked systems on a clothes washer,so, that being said, I would check all related parts of the suspension system, springs, pivot, etc,.these parts do get tired, think of the amount of loads of clothes that you have run through the washer over those 15 years.

Good Luck !

I have a kenmore front load washer, model: 417 42042100
It makes loud noise and becomes louder during the spin cycle.
The drum is loose when I inspected through the front door.
My problem is how to open the cabinet and replace any broken parts.

Thanks.

Check that the feet are level to the floor as this may cause the vibration. Also set the machine to wool mode this then knows what material you are putting in the machine then should cycle to that material.

Thanks J
