Question about Iomega Zip 100MB (31714) External ZIP Drive

1 Answer

I recently purchased a used ZIP 100 USB drive. I can't disable the write protection. How do I do this? I've tried the solutions that Iomega posts, but nothing works. I can't get anything on the drop down menu on the "Tools" tab that says anything about read-write protection. I have quite a few disks that I can't use without disabling the protection. If I have to, I'd be happy with no protection at all rather than the way it is right now.

Hello.

If you can see the drive when you connect to your USB port, you should be able to format the drive. After connecting the drive, select My Computer or Computer, note the drive letter, be certain that this is your drive, Right-click and select Format. Be very careful that you are not formatting another drive.

That would remove any software installed or options, such as Tools for the drive, but it should be usable.

Hope this helps.

How do you get a disk to pop out of a iomega zip 100

Hello.

If your iomega drive is connected to your computer, open My Computer and right-click on the Zip disk drive icon and choose the option to eject.

If unsuccessful, or the drive is not connected to your computer, remove the disk manually. Look for a small hole or lever. If a small hole, use a straightened paper clip and push into the hole to remove the disk. If a lever, lift and pull backwards.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Last time, when my Samsung mobile phone was locked by password, I also forgot the password and tried to disable the password protection functions by using the ways searched over the internet.
Maybe it may also work for your iOMega mobile phone.

I have an external Iomega 250 zip drive with a USB connection cable but do not have the power cord/transformer. Where can I get a replacement and will this drive (model Z250USBPCM) work with an iMac?

Yes your model will work with an iMac conveniently. The replacement chord can be gotten from any computer hardware store around. All you have to do is take the unit there so they can access what particular chord is going to function for it.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I had a computer with a slot for reading iomega ZIP 100 disc. My new computer does not have this. Is there a device to read my zip dizc and send the contents to a USB port?

IOMEGA make a USB ZIP drive that reads and writes 100 and 250 Mb disks. Don't know if this is available any more, you might be able to pick one up 2nd hand.
If you still have your old computer, try networking your old and new computer together so you can transfer data from the ZIP drive on your old computer to your new one.

Iomega zip port

First of all, make certain you are only using 100 MB disks in a 100 MB reader.

If the problem is more complex than that, I have several questions:

Can you read different disks?

what type of connection is the zip drive using with the computer? USB?

does the zip drive need an external power supply?

will the zip drive successfullly read disks when connected to a different computer?

does the zip drive appear under my computer at all? even as an empty drive?

what operating system are you using?
