You didn't specify the make and model of your camera, so I'm going to assume it uses SD cards.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When camera is turned on "PROTECTED CARD" comes

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Saved photos to computer, then put the card into the camera. The screen says, card protected and won't allow me to take photos.

What kind of card is it? When you removed it from the computer, did you use the "safely remove hardware" function?
