In your carborator there is a fuel stop bubble that is lifted up when enough fuel is in the carborator that buble might be broken if i were i would look in the carborator to see if there is any fuel if there is then you probabaly have to replace that

Bike sat for 3 years. Is very very underpowered. Feels like a 50cc. Misses at high rpms. Carbs were not cleaned or rebuilt. What should I do?

Remove and disassemble the carburetors, clean the carburetor body, replace the main jets and the pilot jets with new parts, being careful not to damage the brass when reinstalling the new parts. Reassemble the carburetors and reinstall on the bike. Drain the fuel tank, inspect the fuel tank for rust or sediment, seal with Red-Kote or Caswell Epoxy if necessary. Remove the petcock, disassemble and clean all parts of the petcock, buy a rebuild kit if the vacuum diaphragm is dried or damaged. reinstall the petcock and fill the fuel tank with premium fuel. Clean or replace the spark plugs, and check that compression is within specifications on each cylinder. Synchronize the carburetors. Change the oil, drain and refill the cooling system, flush the brake system with fresh Dot4 fluid. Check the exhaust system for possible obstructions (rodent nests). Check the air in the tires. Each of these steps is essential for safe and proper performance of your motorcycle, especially after sitting for as long as 3 years.

I have replaced the spark plug and it will not start.

Hi, you can check to see if it is a fuel starvation problem by putting a few drops of fuel through the spark plug hole, replace the plug and if it fires or runs for a short period then there is a fuel blockage - try checking filter or carby jets.If the engine didn't fire then maybe check exhaust outlet for blockage (my leaf blower didnt start and it had a mud wasp nest in exhaust.

Good luck

it sounds like a fuel problem.
first drian fuel out of tank.
i know you have already cleaned the carby but dis assemble carby and clean with carby cleaner.
re assemble carby & fill tank with fresh fuel.
also clean air filter & check oil level & check spark plug,if the spark plug is black and the tip is blocked with oil build up, then replace.

Gx240 honda engine starts fine, but coughs and sputters with heavy exhaust; then it runs smoothly for 2 to 3 seconds and then shuts itself off. I checked and there is plenty of gas and the correct amount...

Sounds like it could do with a cleanout of the carburettor. Also check for dirt/rust in fuel tank that could be restricting fuel flow to carby.

2002 XR 200 sat for about 6 yrs with no attention. I drained the fuel, cleaned the carb, changed oil, new spark plug. still won't start. what next?

Remove the plug lead and plug. Earth the body of the plug to the barrel. Kick and check for spark.
If no spark you have found a problem.
If you get spark the problem is most likely the carby.
Remove the float bowl from bottom of carby and check that both jets are clear.

Honda *** scooter not moved for 3 years new battery and drive belt fitted but lacks power

Have you removed the carby and removed the jets and cleaned them? also is the compression OK? Is the exhaust blocked...Try loosening off the 2 10mm nuts at the cly that holds the exhaust pipe, drop the pipe down a little and try for power. if its better the mufler is blocked..the outlet could have a nest in it or carbon and rust has blocked it.You can cut them open and clean them, but must have the tools and know how...

Won't run at full speed continuously. Cycles speed up and down even at full throttle.

Check and make sure the exhaust outlet is totally open. If it has a metal gauze screen slide it out and wash with carby cleaner and replace.
Blocked exhausts are common problem in 2 stroke engines because users run the motor too slow and it ( + oily residue) carbons up the exhaust. With a blocked exhaust, usually the moror will start and idle pretty ok but will screw up when you try to run at full revs.

In Australia we get mud wasps building nests in there - a quick poke out of the mud and she's running full throttle again.

ps. Don't fiddle with the 2 mixture screws - unless your know what you are doing. You will only make it worse!!.
