You can right click on the cd drive icon on my computer and click on eject. Also you can press the open button of the disk drive. It lies below and sometimes inbetween the opening drive. Hope that helps you.

How do I get my finished and finalized disk to play on my computer

Make sure your disk is recorded in a format supported by your computer's optical drive. If the optical drive is the original one in your computer, you may be able to get this information from the user's manual. You can often get the model number of the drive from the system information listing.
->Mac OS X: Go to Apple menu, select "About This Mac" and click "More Info..." to open System Profiler. Click on ATA or Serial ATA to get information on connected drives. Look for CD or DVD devices.)
->Windows: Open Control Panels, open System Control Panel, click on the Device Manager or Hardware tab, then click on the ATA or Serial ATA listing.

Once you have the make and model of the optical drive(s), do a web search for those along with the term "specifications." You may discover, for example, that your optical drive cannot read DVD-R/W. All is not lost in such a case - you can get a USB external optical drive, or an upgraded internal optical drive for $30 - $120.

CD stuck in Asus desktop optical drive

On the CDrom drive, there is a small hole near the button to open the drive. Insert the tip of a straightened paper clip into the hole and press gently. The drive should open to allow you to remove the disk that is stuck.

Greeting I just bought "LG

Greetings... I think your having a problem with your hardware DVD R/W.
based on your observation...
1) The dvd rom drive is detected on your windows xp and by pushing open/close button still working... " this indicate that the power and SATA / IDE cable was properly connected.
2) And you've said "NOT SPINNING".... "means you have undergo testing by touching or listening DVDrom drive while the disk was inside after closing the disk tray which is right"

Therefore your DVDrom drive was defective... you can also check by opening the metal cover to see if the disk was spinning and if the laser of optical lens released a red light.

Where do I go on my computer to open the optical drive. I am new on the computer and need simple instructions. HELP!

For Windows XP:

Click on Start > Double-click on My Computer > Double-click on the drive letter which corresponds with the optical drive. Most of the time it is the D: drive, or E: drive.

(A: is generally for a Floppy Disk drive
No B:
C: is for the Harddrive )

For Vista and Win7:
Click on the Windows logo button > Double-click on Computer > Double-click on the drive letter that corresponds with the optical drive.

Help my dvd drive is stuck and wont open

Desktop or Laptop computer wasn't stated.

With most desktop computer optical drive's there is a tiny hole located right under the optical drive tray.
(The tray the disk is inserted in)
A paper clip is straightened out, then inserted into the hole.
This is a manual override, and will open the tray.

There are some desktop computer optical drives, that the computer case has a door that flips down, then the optical drive tray comes out.
The door must be eased down far enough to see if the optical drive has the small hole.

With a laptop computer the optical drive is removed from the laptop.

Generally there is one small Philips head screw that is removed from the bottom side of the laptop, then the optical drive tray is opened with the paper clip, and the optical drive is then removed by using the tray as a handle.
The optical drive is then pulled straight out.

Once out the top cover is removed for access to the disk.

If this information is not what you seek, or you would like it explained, please post in a Comment, and we'll work together on finding a solution.

How to install GH22nS50 Rewriter into my computer

These are the steps for installing your optical drive:
1. Remove both side covers on your PC case. 2. Locate a free 5.25 in bay on your desktop computer. This is usually located near the front/top part of a PC ATX case. 3. Remove the front/external cover for your chosen drive bay. This cover is usually not screwed in. You just have to pry it open. 4. Screw in the optical drive to the drive bay. You need 4 screws, 2 on each side. 5. Power connection : Locate a SATA power connector from your power supply and plug this into your new optical drive. The SATA power connector looks like this rjbautista.jpg
6. Data Connection - Locate the SATA ports on your motherboard which looks like this rjbautista_0.jpg
You need to plug in a SATA cable from your motherboard to your new optical drive
SATA cable rjbautista.gif
SATA power and data ports on the back of the optical drive

7. That's it! Your new optical drive should now work. it's plug n Play so you don't need to install any drivers for this device.

Hi das4real! These are the things to consider.
  • Operating system disk - Try to test your Installation CD to other computer. If it doesn't work then you need to replace the disk
  • Optical Drive (CD/DVD Drive) - If Installation disk works then try to clean your Optical drive lens as it may be having a hard time reading the disk. Your Optical drive is working since you're able to format and able to start the installation. Cleaning the drive lens may do the trick.
  • Hard Drive - If Installation CD and Optical drive is clean. Then the last thing you need is to replace the Hard Drive. You Hard Drive might need replacement due to some bad sectors and the installation couldn't write anything on the drive that causes to freeze during installation.
I hope this helps you.

My burner on my dell e 5400 wont let me play or burn disc what can i do you can reach me at chuckspolishing53@yahoo.com

A) Clean the optical eye of the CD/DVD burner. If the laser optical is dirty it won't read disks.
The laser optical eye is located in the bottom of the CD/DVD drive.

You can,
1) Turn the computer on, open the CD/DVD drive tray, and then turn the computer off.
Unplug the computer from power.
Use a can of compressed air for computers, and spray towards the bottom.
After you are satisfied the optical eye is clean, let the computer sit for 3 minutes.
Then plug into power.

Open the drive, try a disk.

2) Use an optical cleaner disk. The disk usually has small brushes on it, which you are to properly apply a few drops of cleaner to.
Then the drive tray is closed, and the disk does it's job.
There are many variations of disk cleaners, the above is just one example.

B) You may have driver problems.
A Driver is a small piece of software that the Operating System uses to 'communicate' with a device.
{Windows XP is one example of an O/S. A CD/DVD drive is one example of a device}

Sometimes Windows is a 'funny animal'. Files tend to be corrupted. A Driver file may be fragmented.
You have to 'slap Windows around' a little bit.

1) Left-click on Start, then Right-click on My Computer. (Windows XP)
2) Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.

You are now looking at the System Properties window.

3) Left-click on the Hardware tab at the top.

4) Left-click on Device Manager in the middle.

5) When Device Manager loads, left-click on the + sign next to > DVD/CD-ROM Drives.

6) Right-click on the drive's name.

7) Left-click on Uninstall.

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up.
"Warning, you are about to uninstall this device, ya-da, ya-da"

Click on OK.
(It is Ok)

8) Now close all windows, go back to your desktop screen only.

9) Turn your computer off. WAIT 1 minute, then turn your computer on.

After Windows loads you should see a pop-up of of the system tray at the bottom of the screen,
"Found New Hardware", and perhaps another pop-up after that, "Found XXXXXX CD/DVD drive"

If your CD/DVD drive doesn't work now, I suggest it's tiem to buy a new one.
Mechanical devices in a computer are rated in hours of usage, and your optical drive, (CD/DVD drive) may be at the end of it's 'Life-span'.

Example,

Dell Inspiron E5400 Service Manual from Dell Support,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/late5400/en/sm/index.htm

Click on > Optical Drive on the right side.
