Hi there I have a Whirlpool toploader, Heavy Duty, 1993 model. It does not want to go on spin and just keeps on washing through the cycle, bot draining the water either. What do I do? Ditch it or buy a new one? Thanks Debbie

Does the timer stick in the same spot all the time?have you tried advancing the timer by hand past the point where it sticks in the wash cycle to see if it will advance on it's own past that point.it sounds like the timer is bad,it won't advance out of the wash cycle,if you open the lid look at the back wall of the washer right under the lid you'll see the model number,if you send it to me i can see how much a timer is but that washer is almost 20 years old, you'll have to decide if you want to sink money into it or put the money towards a new washer.you can still get that machine but soon all you'll be able to get is a front load washer, the timer could cost close to 150 dollars or more and you'll be almost half way to buying a new washer with that money,i would get a new washer.

It's heavy duty thin twin model. The cycle stops at spin and water stays in the mashine.

When it gets to the SPIN cycle, wait 45 seconds. If it does not spin, open then close the lid.
If it spins then, replace the timer.
If it does not spin, replace the lid switch.

Washing machine won't spin dry . Its a whirlpool 2 speed 7 cycle heavy duty model

If this is a top load clothes washer, almost all units will not spin if the door is open during the cycle time when it should be spinning. If the door is closed, check if the door safety interlock is broken (on most washers, you will see a pin on the door pressing into a little depression)

If these things check out, you probably have a failed transmission deep inside the clothes washer. Fixing that is non-trivial.
