Does the timer stick in the same spot all the time?have you tried advancing the timer by hand past the point where it sticks in the wash cycle to see if it will advance on it's own past that point.it sounds like the timer is bad,it won't advance out of the wash cycle,if you open the lid look at the back wall of the washer right under the lid you'll see the model number,if you send it to me i can see how much a timer is but that washer is almost 20 years old,you'll have to decide if you want to sink money into it or put the money towards a new washer.you can still get that machine but soon all you'll be able to get is a front load washer,the timer could cost close to 150 dollars or more and you'll be almost half way to buying a new washer with that money,i would get a new washer.
I would definatley try n fix it first it soundsl ike its jsut the timer knob they go back and dont work right !!
