Question about hoovers.com

I also have the same problem with my Hoover 2300L not emptying after washing and/or rinsing. If I push the control knob in and turn it one click and pull it out, sometimes this will fix the problem. Can this problem be fixed by replacing the timer? And can the timer be replaced by the home handyman?

    Thankyou for the prompt reply.
Sometimes the machine will go through a whole cycle without a problem.
Other times it washes ok, then the control knob just starts clicking through the rest of the cycle until it gets back to the OFF position.
I had a local service man look at it yesterday and he said it was the timer and there are no parts available??? I looked it up on the web and found there are still parts available for this model. The machine is in perfect condition with no rust scratch or dents, so I'm reluctant to buy a new one.
If it's not too electrical my husband (the home handyman) is quite capable of installing a new timer, given that they're not too expensive.

Hello
This could possibly be a door saftey switch. If you are handy with wiring try taking the door switch out and tieing the two wires together with a wire nut.Unplug machine before doing this.

Then try running machinr through full cycle.

If this does not work then have alook at the timer itself and any wiring harness going into it.

Sometimes using some electrical component cleaner will fix the problem, just spray the timer wiring contacts with it.

And yes the timer can be replaced if you have some basic hand tools.

I dont know the cost of a timer. But they are not hard to replace. There is a wiring harness that should just plug in and maybe 4 or 5 screws to get the panel off.Just unplug the machine before you do anything.

How to replace the timer on a Kenmore 90 series washing machine?

The timer on a washing Kenmore washing machine is the brains of the unit. The timer controls how long the clothes are to be washed, rinsed, spun and dried. The timer is located behind the timer knob in the main control panel. If the timer fails, it can be replaced with just a few hand tools.
1 Unplug the washing machine's cord from the electrical outlet.
2 Remove the two screws securing the main-panel end caps with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the main panel up and rotate it backward so the inside of the panel is exposed. If your model does not have end caps, slide a putty knife between the main panel and the washing machine's top, then pry up to free the panel from its retaining clips.
3 Turn the knob by hand from one side while looking at the back of the timer from the other side. You should see the timer knob's shaft turning. Grasp the black plastic locking tab in the center of the timer knob's shaft with a pair of needle-nose pliers and pull it out. You should feel a click.
4 Pull the timer knob off of its shaft. You may need to hold the locking tab with the pliers as you do this. Remove the trim plate from under the knob.
5 Unplug the wiring connector from the back of the timer. Remove the screws securing the timer to the main panel with a nut driver and remove the timer.
6 Install the new timer into the panel and secure it with the screws, using a nut driver. Install the timer's trim plate and wire connector.
7 Install the knob onto the timer's shaft. Make sure the locking tab is still pulled out before installing the knob. Once the knob is pushed onto the shaft, hold the knob with one hand while pushing the locking tab in from the other side. You should feel it click into position.
8 Reinstall the main panel and end caps, if applicable. Plug in the electrical cord and run the washer on various wash and rinse cycles to test that the timer is working.

Things You Will Need
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Putty knife
  • Nut driver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Timer

Warning
  • Pulling or installing the timer knob without first pulling the locking tab can break the tab, the shaft or the knob.

Model: 110.29822800 Cycle Control knob seems loose. When turn knob clockwise and pull knob, it seems like out of position. For example, I set at Normal, rinse and pull knob. It rinse a minute or two and...

Could be one of two things. The knob or the timer. Both knobs and the timer through sears parts direct are under 100 probably with shipping. If the knob that you pull out and push in does not feel sloppy when you turn it then i would guess timer is faulty.

Frigidaire top load washer won't rinse

this can be two issues. One could be the control knob. there could be a malfunction here. secondly, you may have a faulty water valve assembly. the relay or solenoid may need to be replaced. i would start with the control knob.

Hi deppgirl,
I checked the lint filter at the front bottom left hand side and it was full of junk.  Once emptied it worked a treat.  Pull the flap down and turn the large knob anti-clockwise and pull to remove.  Good luck.
