Go into the BIOS configuration and make the CD the first boot device and the hard disk the 2nd boot device.
You can now boot up the computer with the Windows installation CD to install Windows.

"Harddisk not found" error during

If the computer is telling you that the hard disk is not found, then either it is not hooked up correctly, is set to "disabled" in the BIOS setup, or the hard drive is bad.
Check those things in that order.

It says that we have to insert the cd on the disk drive but what if our pc has no cdroom? how can we install via internet?

Just copy the driver to your hard disk and unpack it if needed. If the driver package has a dedicated install/setup program, run it. If it doesn't, use windows install new hardware wizard and when asked about the source for the driver select "i will specify the location" and navigate to the folder you unpacked the driver into.

I hv an IBM rev 1.2 and it is diplaying only 4bit color and limited to 640 x 480 graphics resolution This ahppened after I formatted the HDD and reinstalled windows.HELP

Did you re-install from the IBM "System Restore" CD-ROM disks, or did you re-install from a "generic" Windows CD-ROM?

If the former, then the IBM disks should have installed the correct device-drivers for the IBM video-adapter.

If the latter, then you need to access IBM's web-site, select your IBM model, and select your Operating System, and download/install the device-drivers for the video-adapter that is specific to the particular model that you own.

Ibm x series 226 attempt to install os and says no harddrive

Make sure that the motherboard and/or disk controller recognize the drives during POST.

Then check and see if IBM has a server installation CD-ROM that you can use boot the server and automatically load the correct drivers to prep for the OS install. I have downloaded installation CD ISO files from HP and Dell that walked me right through the OS install.

Another important consideration is that servers frequently use disk controllers that are not included in the operating system's driver files.
For example, when installing Windows OS on a RAID controller you must press F6 immediately after the installation CD-ROM starts up.
Later in the installation you will be prompted to insert a 1.44 diskette with the driver for your RAID controller.

The only challenge is to find the correct version of the driver and get it on a diskette.

I hope this helps.
